One is dead and one is a liar. That is the headline on CNN right now as the prosecution argues against dismissing the charges.

O'Mara is arguing for a judgment of dismissal. He is absolutely correct in his statement that this is a primarily circumstantial case in regards to Murder 2, imo.
I highly doubt there will be any such acquittal judgment coming from Nelson, imo. The prosecution does have circumstantial evidence and inconsistencies in George's statements, which are valid. Nelson will likely deny the acquittal judgment motion and we'll either see a short defense case next, or O'Mara will choose not to call any defense witnesses and the trial will move straight into closing arguments. If the prosecution's closing arguments aren't unbelievably convincing, George may well walk, imo. Why the hell the state called Trayvon Martin's mom, Sybrina Fulton, before they called nutjob Dr. Bao is befuddling. De la Rionda should have ended the state's case with Sybrina's testimony that the voice screaming for help was "absolutely" that of her dead son. That should have been the last piece of testimony the jury heard before the prosecution rested.

If the prosecution have indeed fucked this case up they want their fucking asses kicked.
If Zimmerman gets off scot free what kind of message does that send?

I don't know if the jury will be too, though. So far, the prosecution hasn't laid it out clearly enough, imo. The prosecution still has a chance to make points on cross-examination of defense witnesses and in closing arguments.

T's autopsy report - I don't recall seeing it posted but I could have missed it.

^ The full autopsy/ME report is in the Zimmerman Trial Reference thread at the top of LC's cell block. It's good to see the summary page posted here though, in light of today's testimony by the ME.
So, today we heard Sybrina Fulton testify that she's absolutely sure that it was her son Trayvon Martin screaming for help on the 911 tape. And, we heard Gladys Zimmerman testify that she's absolutely sure that it was her son George Zimmerman screaming for help on the 911 tape. Now, George's uncle (who works in a sheriffs department) is testifying that he overheard the screams on the tape when his wife was watching tv. Without knowing what his wife was watching or seeing the tv, he said, "that's George". Implausible scenario, I don't believe it. Not necessarily that he's lying (or that it's not George's voice); possibly that he's convinced himself that's how it went down. Court adjourned for the weekend. Defense will continue its case on Monday.

It was good that de la Rionda asked Sybrina Fulton about her son's tattoos.
Trayvon's tats were the names of his great grandma, his gradma, and his mom. Nothing thuggish about them.

I feel like he killed that kid, I believe George instigated it all. *sigh* I forget when I heard this, it had to have been during one of George's interviews, the comment was made that George felt that night was God's will. I wanted to jump on his back. Ugh. His cavalier attitude annoyed me. I swear I'm not violent, I'm just mouthy.

Zimmerman made it during the Hannity interview. In its closing arguments, I expect to see the prosecution bring up the inconsistency between George saying he'd never heard of Stand Your Ground during that interview vs. his instructor's testimony that George had taken and excelled at a legal self defense course which included Stand Your Ground. They should also hit on the huge inconsistency between George's version of the severe beating he took from Trayvon and the "very insignificant" injuries he actually suffered (as testified by the chief ME). I hope the prosecution attorneys are working overtime this weekend on their closing presentation.

That's the thing with the prosecution. They seem to be tossing out bread crumbs without really hammering home an alternative scenario. Frustrating.

I thought the State did well not giving the defense an opportunity to get into all the mess that happened between the Sanford Police and the FDLE. No mention of the FBI and the DOJ. All the things that Zimmerman supporters yap on and on about. George being railroaded by politicians, the Black civil rights activists, the liberal media agenda, all calling for Georgie's arrest. The State kept in clean, and carefully presented the evidence promised in their opening statement.
Now we get to witness the defense try to bring in all the bullshit. And the State having the leeway to cross examine. It works for me. Really what does the defense have to work with? George's character? His desire to be a good neighbor? As soon as the defense goes into that the State will have rebuttal witnesses sitting in line. Does the defense really want to go there?

The jury saw multiple photos of his bloody and swollen nose, and cuts to the back of his head, showing that Martin clearly got the best of their fight before Zimmerman fired the shot.

Tubbie was arrested and charged BEFORE the race baiters and the national media got hold of this story. Personally, I'd love to see the defense call Al, Jesse and some of the New Black Panther members who put a bounty on Zim's head. I'd just like to ask why these men of Godly conviction threatened the town's people with sanctions IF tubbie was NOT arrested and charged. And why they compared Skittles to Dr. King.

As much as the Skittles lovers try and deny it, the arrest and trial IS about perceived racial inequity and injustice. And Obama made sure to play the race card (or confess to a love child). (As an aside . . . You never heard Clinton refer to Arias as " . . . someone I coulda been tapping!") It has nothing to do with the Stand Your Ground Law. To condone this type of intimidation by these "neighbor-hoodie race hating watch groups" is akin to the behavior attributed to tubbie and ultimately causing a death. I admire your blind-eye regarding aggression. |
