I've been trying to figure out the nuances of Florida's self defense vs. SYG laws (if there are differences). I wouldn't attempt to describe it any further except to say it seems SYG is a sub-set (for lack of a better term) of self defense.
http://www.husseinandwebber.com/florida-...force.html
Carry on.
I know, what I know. O'Mara's distinction between "SYG" and a "simple self-defense" was bullshit. It is all included in the same Statute. O'Mara himself admitted to just not wanting to use the term "SYG". Because it was a nick name. "SYG" does not exist but for that. Justifiable use of force is what Georgie is up against. All means the same thing.
The confusion may be that George did not ask for immunity. Big fucking deal. It all goes toward justifiable use of force, George can file as to immunity after the verdict is reached. If he is found not guilty. Grrr!

Something in the air today...
Let's stay focused on the case here.
Anyone who wants to spar on a personal level can just go upstairs to the FIGHT CLUB.
Thanks.

I don't think there need to be any ultimatums, Adub.
It's a request to follow the guidelines that have always been in place here with an established alternative if you wanna carry on something that doesn't belong here.
Easy enough.

If jurors follow the letter of law, they find #Zimmerman not guilty. If its based on "right and wrong" or emotion, he's convicted.

Ok let me start by saying this is not me speaking. Let me repeat THESE ARE NOT MY WORDS. While reading a thread at another forum, on the upcoming verdict, I ran across this post. It is so far from the kind of posts that I am accustomed to here at Mock that I just have to post it for you all to read and comment on. Don't wanna comment, that's fine also.
OK On to the post . . .
I hold to a guilty verdict and not on lesser charges. This “trial” has been fixed from the start and the examples are near endless to the point of being too lengthy to detail. The last violation of juris code being the bought and paid for “judge” who, in the absence of the (terrified) jury whom she sequestered so as to once again not witness her open violation actually sat there in her concern that the prosecution through all its machinations had nothing (which is true) and brought new “lesser” charges against Zimmerman (another outright legal violation for which the beyond pathetic defense team once again openly allowed – I am convinced they too are part of the fixed “trial”). I mean, if intelligent America cannot see through this last guarantee, they never will….. A jurist actually filing charges against a defendant………. Unreal. Criminal.
The jurors are, I believe, completely terrified as per the lynch mob clearly on display both outside AND within the court and just want to say several mea culpa for forgiveness for their by chance sin, save their skin and go somewhat safely home. This is what life is like in New Africa, the former United States that I remember well in the face of the Rodney King verdict (which was just) to its obvious aftermath (78 murdered – no arrests still, thousands beaten most with permanent disability and no arrests still, over $2B in property damage) which has just become more emboldened, to the O.J. Simpson fix-is-in “trial”. In the New African nation of Barackistan (the former United States) CCW permits are off the Richter Scale, gun sales are to the heavens as are ammunition sales. This “triumvirate” is quite possibly THE most indicting piece of evidence for what the once decent and great “nation” has become……….., New Africa. This is what happens when a nation goes the way of the negro with its non negro accomplices such as the “judge” who, as Torquemada, has made certain that Zimmerman will be found guilty. And even then, it will not be over. Good thing most if not all of you have guns and ammmo there in Barackistan. You very well might need them.

Poor Zim.
A jury full of women lends a better chance for an emotional decision.
He's a fat, sissy fuck anyway, so no big deal.

And it was his own attorney who objected to White Women being excluded. Fact!

FU,
Sounds like conspiracy theory b.s. to me. I have no doubt that politics and race brought this case to the forefront but from there, I think the trial has been fairly even. Granted, Nelson and West have had issues but I've agreed with most if not all of her rulings and I don't think she sided heavily with the prosecution (example: her ruling to allow the toxicology report in which the defense elected not to use).
We'll need to rename the country New 'Spanics before New Africa.

I thought so too given all the really strong personalities involved. In many other places it would have descended into chaos a long time ago. I think what helps us so often in these type of threads is that most posting are very smart individuals who can handle being disagreed with.
In regards to that post you referenced. That person is retarded & so are those who agree with him/her. It's a ridiculous train of thought.

However, I just stick to the facts and nothing but the facts in LC's Cellblock. Ya'll don't see me mucking around in here. That is not what I am about. Just here to add my 2 cents On Topic. Nothing more. Maybe I should have modified my reply to Tiki as +1 cent rather than using the word score. But, none of it really matters to me. I have no interest in being called out by anyone here at Mock.

I look forward to your crime forum posts.
If/when you venture out of the crime forum, you strike me as more than capable of handling yourself. Plus, every now and then you show a wicked sense of humor; love it.
Jury is out for the night and the speculating continues. Did they reach a decision and they just want to sleep on it? Did they realize they're going to be at it for a long time so they might as well take a break? Freaking talking heads drive me crazy with this speculation stuff (mostly because I just want to know).

I think one of the very first things jurors do as they begin to deliberate is to take an immediate vote so they can see where everyone stands and what they need to work on in order to come to a unanimous decision.

^ That's what happened when I was on jury duty, right after selecting the jury foreperson.
Since they've been sequestered for a couple of weeks, the foreperson decision was probably a pretty quick one.
I think it's gonna take a few days for a verdict because a lot of what was presented to the jury in this case was open to interpretation and perceptions of credibility, without many definitive points to focus upon. JMO.
If the jury hangs (which I could easily see on this one), I wonder if Zimmerman would take a plea, if the state would choose to retry him, if he'd still have the option of going for a SYG immunity hearing instead?...
It's an interesting and frustrating case; I don't think anyone posting here was out of line. Maybe off topic for a bit, refocused, and back on.

HLN was rattling off several high profile cases and the number of hours it took the juries to reach a verdict. I was surprised that most juries came back with a verdict (it seemed) in less than 12 hours (or even less than that). I think the Drew Peterson case was the exception, taking 7 days or so.
It seems like a long time when you're watching but if the jury doesn't hang, they could come back with a verdict very soon.

It's being reported on CNN that they deliberated for a little over 3 hrs and that after 1 1⁄2 hrs in they asked for a list of all the exhibits.

I don't have time to track the trial as closely as some of you do but it seems from everyones posts that the trial itself has been pretty evenly treated. I know a lot of people in here are heavily on the side of the prosecution, some are just waiting to see what happens and some think Z should walk.
From what I can tell, the prosecution hasn't presented a very good case, that could be because they didn't have one to start with, no real witnesses and the like. The defense hasn't been absolutely Stellar in their presentation either, but fortunately for Z they haven't needed to be.
I don't know whats going to happen, I hope the jury follows the law and that they don't give any consideration to the possible consequences, thats what a Fair justice system is about.
Either way there are a Lot of people that will not be happy.
