'Little Talks' is excellent. HotD, maybe you could post the YouTube video for me?
TIA!
Never heard of 'em before, MS. I like the song and the video a lot.
P.s. I posted the Gordon Lightfoot upthread. Big fan.

Clad, there's not one Van Morrison song that isn't a lyrical and musical gift, imo. He's truly an artist, imo.
John Doe was the lead singer and guitarist for the Punk/Rock band X back in the 80s. Great band. Both he and his ex-wife Excene write lyrics, compose music, play guitar, write and record poetry and spoken work, act... She also taught at underprivileged schools in LA for years (not sure if she still does). I met him a couple of times, very nice interesting man - never got to meet her unfortunately.
Anyway, John Doe has led a few bands since X split up, but my favorite release of his is "Meet John Doe" from 1990. I think I listened to the CD at least once a day when I lived in Japan; so more than 900 times and it always got better. I don't think his stuff is such a big turn on to mainstream, but I think you might like it (at least from a lyrical standpoint).
Here's a video (not the best quality) of one of the songs from the album. The lyrics for all of the songs are perfect, to me. Raw, but they say a lot, imo. (I couldn't find the lyrics for this album in text anywhere.)
If you like it, videos of each track on the album are here:

If you don't like it, it took you less time to give it a listen than it did for me to compose this post.

I waited oh so long for you to come to me...
What did I do wrong, it's all a mystery to me?
Baby I feel it too. But what am supposed to do?
Maybe I'll just change. How could I be wrong for you??
You (you), you got me hangin' on a string now.
I'm not your plaything.

HotD, this is a great R & B jam from the mid-80's. If you could post their video, it'd be great!

MS, I'm posting the Loose Ends video in the "Living In the Past" thread; I sorta drove this thread off track last night.

Not my plaything, are you sure? Have you toured the playground?

I'm picturing it now, in shades of blues...
Well, my daddy was a fireman and my old ma here
She was the only daughter of the engineer
My sweetheart loved a brakeman and it ain't no joke
It's a shame the way she keeps a good man broke
I got the freight train blues
Oh Lord mama, I got them in the bottom of my rambling shoes
And when the whistle blows I gotta go oh mama, don't you know
Well, it looks like I'm never gonna lose the freight train blues

...And you ask the girl "Hey, I think something is wrong with your eyes. Do you want me to call a doctor? People shouldn't have kaleidoscopes for eyes. Its freaking me out."

Amateur. I bet he can't even mash potato, do The Twist, or cut footloose.
Is it August yet? Can't wait until the DMV Clambake so I can shake it off.

I know what Clang, go to Home Depot and buy a bag of charcoal and a bag of 1.5" rocks, then dig a hole in the ground and heat those rocks just to practice before August.

Poor Clang. I'm sorry you're so unhappy at work. It sucks to have to get up everyday to put in time doing something you loathe.

Yeah, well it is what it is. I've tried talking to my bosses about it, but nothing ever seems to come of it. I guess I'll just have to fake smile and learn to live with it for the next 20 plus years.
I'm considering telling them I'm going to start looking for a new job. But that's probably a bad idea. Right? That will give them a reason to fire me, which I don't want at least until I find something that makes me happy.

Why not do what every other working slob does? Do your work so you can at least pay the rent and do some other side job that you can enjoy. Not everyone "likes" their job but they still do it. Buck up and quit sniveling its not the end of the world to hate your job, just freaking do it and quit crying. Geez! It's not a goddamn social event.
