John Edwards Trial On
#81
Im so glad that they didn't find him guilty of corruption, The rest of our government can breath a huge sigh of relief.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

They just dropped the other five charges. Looks like he's walking.

Five counts against former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards that a jury couldn't decide on in his campaign finance trial were dismissed Wednesday at the request of federal prosecutors.

Judge Catherine Eagles signed the order.

A jury on May 31 acquitted Edwards on one felony count of receiving illegal campaign contributions, but deadlocked on the remaining five counts he misused money from two wealthy donors to hide his pregnant mistress, Rielle Hunter, while he ran for president.

Jurors acquitted Edwards on a charge of accepting illegal campaign contributions, involving $375,000 from elderly heiress Rachel "Bunny" Mellon in 2008. He had also been charged with illegally accepting $350,000 from Mellon in 2007, other donations from wealthy Texas attorney Fred Baron, filing a false campaign finance report and conspiracy.

“The jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict on five of the six counts of the indictment, however, and we respect their judgment,” Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Justice Department's Criminal Division said in a prepared statement. “ In the interest of justice, we have decided not to retry Mr. Edwards on those counts."

In a statement, Edwards' lawyers said:

"As we stated in our motions and arguments in court, the novel theory of campaign law violations charged by the Justice Department is not a crime. It should be addressed, if at all, by the Federal Election Commission, which our evidence showed seems to have agreed with our views on the law. While John has repeatedly admitted to his sins, he has also consistently asserted, as we demonstrated at the trial, that he did not violate any campaign law nor even imagined that any campaign laws could apply. We are confident that the outcome of any new trial would have been the same."

Hunter earlier this month announced she's coming out with a tell-all book. People Magazine reported the book, titled "What Really Happened," will hit stores June 26. In it, Hunter says the two are still in love.

No surprise here.

He's the walking dead though. He'll get to live his life, but his delusions of grandeur will haunt him forever.

John Edwards' grasping whore reveals moment she vowed she would live next to his prison if he were jailed for fraud... as she parades their daughter for the cameras and a buck. $$$$
Rielle Hunter details the couple's phone call just days before his indictment in her new memoir What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter and Me. Jurors acquitted Edwards on one count of accepting illegal campaign contributions and deadlocked on five other felony counts last month. The couple's daughter Quinn is now four and lives with her mother in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Wonder how many people will pay to read this bubble headed bleach blonde's (highly spun) dirty laundry? Nothing stopping Edwards himself from making some bucks with a tell-all too since he wasn't convicted. First Andrew Young's spin. Now, Hunter's spin. Wait for the Lifetime movie, it's bound to happen... Ughh.

I'm seeing that dreadful woman's face everywhere I turn online these days. She has no shame. I understand that shit happens in life but to write a book detailing your affair with a married man is very uncouth & low class. That's not exactly something to be proud of especially when the wife was a class act like Elizabeth was.

You're not going to be happy to see this then, Duchess.

"Rielle Hunter, in a gossipy new memoir, calls the cancer-stricken wife of her lover, former presidential candidate John Edwards, a "witch on wheels" and claims that while they were furtively seeing each other he lied about having three other mistresses at the same time, ABC News reported Monday."

The deceased wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards is still beloved by those who find inspiration and solace in her books, which recount her long struggle against cancer, anguish from the loss of a child and disappointment with her husband's infidelity.

But more than 18 months after her death, visitors have also noticed Edwards' grave is not yet marked with a stone. Her plot, snuggled next to the one where her son Wade Edwards was laid to rest in 1996, features only a tiny card printed with her name and a bouquet of purple flowers.

In a statement, the Edwards family said they have commissioned two markers for Elizabeth's grave from Robert Mihaly, the same sculptor who carved Wade's angel.

"Given the importance of the gravesite to Elizabeth's family and the people who loved her and visit the site, the family has taken the time and thought to ensure that this site is particularly special and reflects Elizabeth's life and memory," the statement said.

for the sake of common decency i can't even stand to read any more of this disgusting porn. it's nauseating, they are both scum, and someday her daughter will read this foul trash.

daily mail
Rielle Hunter says the first time she slept with John Edwards was the 'most extraordinary night of her life.'

Lurid details continue to emerge about the affair that annihilated the two-time presidential candidate's political career as Hunter's tell-all memoir slowly leaks to the public.

The couple met in February 2006 at the Regency Hotel in New York City. Hours after Hunter approached the former North Carolina Senator, he called her up to his hotel room for a night of 'surrender' and 'zero sleep.'

Hunter says she caught Edwards' eye at the hotel when she followed him out of a reception and said, 'You are so hot.'

But Hunter says she didn't give in easily to sleeping with a married man Bullshit SlutSlutSlut it took Edwards telling her a story about having three other mistresses to get her into bed that first night they met.

Hmmmm... so a little reverse psychology??

Something along the lines of, 'So, you can feel better knowing that if we fuck now, you won't be the ONLY slut I'm banging.'

Need to tuck that little nugget away as well...

Elizabeth Edwards Gravestone
[snipped]

Elizabeth wasn't a saint, but I found this (from the above linked story) incredibly touching:

...Each day for about two years after Wade [her oldest son] died, Elizabeth went to Oakwood [cemetary] to visit him. She brought fresh flowers, sat on a stone bench carved with his name and read aloud to her son from the Bible and his favorite books.

Eventually, Edwards ...began tending to graves of people buried nearby, especially the children.

"I cleaned around Wade like cleaning his room, and I cleaned around Oliver and Joe, since next to each child was his or her parents, who died after them and were unable to tend to the graves themselves," Edwards wrote. "It doesn't matter to me whether all this sounds odd. I did it because it made it easier for me to think there would be mothers who came after me to tend to Wade's grave when I no longer could."

Her efforts endeared her to the cemetery's groundskeepers, several of whom she came to count as friends. She stopped the daily ritual only after her daughter Emma Claire was born in 1998...

John Edwards' mistress has revealed that she saw the politician's cancer-stricken wife as 'family' even while carrying on an affair with her husband.

Rielle Hunter has also opened up about the first time she had sex with Mr Edwards, then a presidential candidate, describing it as being 'like a rock concert'.

Ms Hunter is cashing in on her notoriety with a tell-all memoir, which she is promoting in an interview with ABC's 2020 set to air tonight.

Their sex was "like a rock concert"? She's 48 for Christ's sake! That is a statement I'd expect from a 20 something. Why would a woman her age even write that?

If you aren't having sex like a rock star in your 40's, you're doing something wrong...
