Kip: I read on some news website about the two older daughters being adopted and the youngest was born to mother and current
husband. I also agree that the two older girls (especially) look like their mother. It still could be a rumor I guess. I went to
Spokeo to find info on Mayes and their new format doesn't give up much anymore (have to pay now). It showed he was living with
a woman in her 60's and a male (no age given). This website is not that reliable, but in some cases, you can find out stuff.
I figure that perhaps these people are his parents. Names did not match.

UNION COUNTY, Miss. -- Police believe one of the bodies found buried at a home in Mississippi may be that of a missing Tennessee mother.
Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards told FOX News Channel Sunday that the two bodies have not yet been positively identified, but one was believed to be 31-year-old Jo Ann Bain.
Edwards said the bodies had apparently been buried for a few days.
They were discovered Friday at a Union County residence connected to Adam Christopher Mayes, the man suspected of abducting Bain and her daughters Adrienne, 14, Alexandria, 12, and Kyliyah, eight.
Autopsies were performed Sunday but the results have not yet been released, Edwards added.
The FBI and US Marshals joined Union County Sheriff's deputies in their search for Mayes Sunday in a 10-square-mile section of northeastern Union County. Edwards said police had no indications that he had left the area.

i hope it wasn't his parents buried in yard. but sadly it was someone's family.
WTVA
the house belongs to Mayes' parents, but the suspect also lived there as well.
Investigators say they don't know what contact the parents may have had with Mayes since he was last seen.
At any rate, they continue to say that Mayes is armed and extremely dangerous.
"We're keeping our department out here. We kept our department out here all night Saturday night. We're going to keep them out here until its over with," Edwards said.
Meanwhile, residents who live near Highway 9 and 348 in Union County are stunned by what they've seen. For a while Sunday afternoon, East Union High School served as law enforcement headquarters.
"It's pretty rough. Nothing like this never happened in this part of the country. It's a pretty quiet community and people here are good people," Alpine Vol. Fire Chief Lewis Grimes said. "And it's a tragedy."

I read that the two oldest girls are the biological children of Jo Ann Bain and her former husband. Her current husband adopted Adrienne and Alexandria, and is the bio father of the youngest, Kyliyah.

AP says this in boston herald this morning:
Mayes and Gary Bain had long been acquainted, having once been married to sisters. he was viewed as an uncle.
"Mayes is a family friend who was staying there that night to help the family pack and drive a U-Haul to Arizona the next day with Gary because the family was planning on moving there within the month," "Gary was asleep at the home that night and woke to find them gone in the morning and the car gone. Mayes was gone too."

Interesting that the abduction happened at night and the dad didn't hear anything. Lots of possibilities though:
- the dad could have gone to bed before the mom (my husband goes to bed 2-4 hours before I do)
- the mom could have gone willingly
- Mayes could have planned to only abduct one or more of the girls and the mom heard something, went to check, and ended up being abducted as well
...and probably plenty of other scenarios.
I'm confused about the car situation though. So Mayes, the wife, and 3 girls drove off in the wife's car. That vehicle is abandoned. So what vehicle did they use to get to Mississippi? I don't think I've read a description of Mayes's vehicle in any of the news stories.

Seems likely [but why wouldn't he just have buried them with the others?]. IF one of the bodies is Jo Ann, maybe the other body is one of the parents and he took the other with him for some reason.

Police searching trunks for missing mom, daughters
GUNTOWN, Miss. (AP) — Authorities searching for a Tennessee mother and her three daughters are stopping motorists in northern Mississippi and checking inside the trunks of their vehicles.
Mississippi state troopers near Guntown said Monday they are conducting a manhunt.
They are looking for 35-year-old Adam Mayes, who authorities say is likely to be armed and extremely dangerous. He's being sought in the April 27 disappearance of Jo Ann Bain and her daughters: 14-year-old Adrienne, 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah.
Police also have set up roadblocks near a residence outside Guntown. Two bodies were found last week in Union County. Authorities say the house is connected to Mayes, who was a friend of the Bain family.
The FBI is awaiting a medical examiner's report to identify the victims.
BS they know who they are.
FBI agents dig Monday afternoon in the back yard of the Alpine community residence where two bodies were found Friday night.

NEMS Daily Journal
The suspect in the case of a missing woman and her daughters had lived with his parents in the Alpine community only part of the time and in Tennessee the rest, said his landlord Mary Patterson.
For the past two years, Patterson said she has rented the double-wide trailer at 1343 Highway 9 North to Adam Mayes and his family. He lived there with his parents, Johnny and Mary Mayes, as well as a woman Patterson described as Mayes' wife, Teresa Mayes.

He has a wife too, this is so confusing. I wonder when they will release the identities of the two people found dead, maybe one was his wife?

Action News 5's Janice Broach spoke with Adam Mayes sister in law, Bobbi Booth.
Booth said Mayes' wife, Theresa, is being held in the Hardeman county jail.
We cannot confirm Theresa Mayes is in the jail.
Booth said she knew at some point last week Mayes was in his backyard in Alpine digging a hole.
The sister-in-law also said Mayes dated Jo Ann Bain before she married her current husband, Gary.

Union County Coroner Mark Golding said he has not received any information that he can release.
"They don't want to give (Mayes) any information," Golding said. "The bodies were being autopsied in Memphis, as investigators believe they died in Tennessee rather than in Mississippi."
The bodies that have been found have not been identified.
Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards aimed to reassure area residents.
"We want the public to know that there is certainly need to be aware and cautious, but we don't want anybody to be overly afraid," he said. "They're very well protected (by) the FBI, U.S. Marshal Service, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, all surrounding county sheriffs."
Edwards said a $50,000 reward is in place for information leading to Mayes' arrest and conviction. Anyone with such information may call any law enforcement agency, he said.

This is sad, I wonder of she was one of the ones found at the house. Unfortunately I don't hold out much hope for the two other girls or the mum.

OMG, that's awful news. I wonder what on earth is driving Mayes? I had thought that maybe he was after the oldest girl. This is not looking good for the other two girls. They must be so scared.
