Spanking your unruly children is so 20th century. Modern-day parents punish their offspring via social networks. After Texas author ReShonda Tate Billingsley busted her 12-year-old daughter posing with a bottle of vodka on Instagram, she made the poor kid post a super-embarrassing second photo of herself holding a sign that read: "I am obviously not ready for social media and will be taking a hiatus until I learn what I should (and) should not post." The photo scored more than 11,000 shares when Billingsley reposted it to her Facebook page. The mom told ABC News her daughter was so traumatized by the punishment that "she actually asked for a spanking instead." Although this public shaming wasn't as harsh as the North Carolina dad who shot up his daughter's laptop after she sassed him on Facebook.
