The Kansas City Chiefs were once a much respected organization. Always contenders, great fans, terrific venue, etc.

Tragedy has certainly taken its toll over the years. Joe Delaney, Derrick Thomas and now this years incident.

The Chiefs will be back. Manning will only be effective in Denver for another year or two and the Chargers and Raiders are in similar 'rebuilding' modes.

Look at this years Vikings for example. 3-13 last year to 10-6 and a playoff berth (and we didn't get Andrew Luck or RGIII and play in arguably the toughest division in football).

I'm very concerned about who the owner will choose as our new head coach. I'm trying to keep the faith in that history has shown he makes good choices but it's nervous making nonetheless. I felt he was a bit evasive concerning Nick Foles and that worries me too.

That is pretty funny if that's how you see it. And if the division sucks, the Chiefs need to take advantage of it.

As for the draft, I'm not really hearing much about 'impact' players coming out. That's another kick in the groin when you have the number one overall pick.

KC has 5 pro-bowlers this year, which is amazing when the team is 2-14. Maybe that means being competitive isn't that far away?

I really don't know what to think about Philly. It feels like the Eagles and Bears 'got rid of' good coaches just to make a change.

Andy Reid and Lovie Smith will take over in other places and they'll win again.

That's not to say there aren't young up and coming coaches who will be good too. Your team just needs to land one of them. Easier said than done.

I understand that this is the business of the NFL and it's how the game is played but I felt sorry for your coach, he had a terrible season and then he watched one of his players put a gun to his head and pull the trigger and to top it off he is fired.

I definitely can have sympathy for both Crennel and Pioli on the situation they were put in recently. I don't know how either of them did their jobs after what they witnessed.

I am honestly more upset about Pioli still being a member of the Chiefs organization. Crennel only had a little over a year as the head coach. Pioli had 4 years as the General Manager, and didn't do jack shit EVER!!!

Well, last time I did this (MLB Playoffs) I was perfect.

I don't think that'll be the case this time.

We have several Mockers with a rooting interest in this year's playoffs (User & HotD in SF, FQ2 in INDY, Krystal in ATL, Maggot in NE, Donovan in DEN, although he lives in Buffalo. Please don't ask me to explain the connection, and, of course, MS in MINNY).

Some of the sports guys reporting out of Philly are saying Coach Reid interviewed for your team. It was reported that Arizona had sent their jet for him and because the interview went so well with KC that he didn't even board the plane.

Of the coaching vacancies in the NFL, KC's is probably the most desirable, due mainly to the fact that in a year or two (after Peyton Manning retires) the rest of the division will completely suck.

Reid wouldn't want to go to the NFC West with SF and SEA looking good for years to come. I can't blame him.

I have heard it's a done deal. If that is true, our GM is toast. Reid wants to bring his own guy in...and I bet that was one of the details that had to be worked out.

It is official....Scott Pioli is gone. There was a collective "HOORAY" when we got word. Then tonight, we received "official" word that the deal was done with Reid...although ESPN had been reporting it all day.

I do feel bad for Crennel and Pioli, and they take some time to reflect and get counseling for what they saw on that day.

I don't think it's important that you (or anyone) like people/players associated with your team. The one & only thing that is important is that you win.

While us Hoosiers like our Andrew Luck, we still love Peyton as much as if he still belonged to Indy.

I read a lot about Peyton over this season. Denver is so lucky to have him, his work ethic alone is second to none.

There's been a ton of speculation over who should be this year's MVP. It's basically become a 2 man debate: Adrian Peterson vs Peyton Manning.

Let's dig a little deeper though. I'd argue that there are actually 2 candidates more qualified than Manning.

Here's how they'd finish if I had to guess right now:

1. Adrian Peterson. Shouldn't even be close. Coming off of ACL & MCL surgery in December of 2011, Peterson took a 3-13 club on his back and lifted them to a 10-6 record and a playoff berth.

The team only added 3 'impact' players from the year before, a Left Tackle, a Free Safety, and a Pro Bowl rookie PlaceKicker. The rest of the roster remained essentially the same from the previous year's debacle. In Christian Ponder, the Vikes have a QB who is universally considered to be mediocre at best.

All AP did was rush for 2,097 (2^nd highest of All-Time) on his surgically repaired knee, including more than 800 in the month of December as the Vikes won their last 4 games to reach the post-season.

Landslide Winner.

2. Andrew Luck. Coming in to a situation (2-14) where you're expected to replace a legend, things don't always go as planned. Luck played particularly well in close games. The Colts won their last 7 when the games was decided by 7 points or less.

I personally have watched him make throws that rookies aren't supposed to make.

He's got a 'winner's' mentality, and has literally gutted his team to wins that they shouldn't have had (Packers, Lions).

There's no way anyone can tell me that Manning was more important to Denver than Luck was to Indy.

3. Robert Griffin III. Dynamic playmaker lifted Skins to a new level. 6-10 in 2011, Griffin helped reverse that record in 2012. He came up big down the stretch, leading Washington to 7 straight wins following a 3-6 start. He was without his top receiver for half the season, and the Skins defense is still terrible, yet they ended up winning the NFC East.

4. Peyton Manning. Broncos were 8-8 with TIM FREAKIN TEBOW running the show last year. They also beat the Steelers in the playoffs with TIM FREAKIN TEBOW.

Broncos defense is greatly improved, but what gets overlooked is, Manning and the Broncos have beat up on many, many shitty clubs during their 11-game streak. They only beat 2 of this year's playoff qualifiers: Baltimore and Cincinnati (arguably the 2 worst teams in the field). They lost on the road to New England and Atlanta and at home to Houston.

They feasted 6 times on San Diego, Oakland & KC (the dregs of the NFL). I know, I know, you can only play who they put in front of you.

Manning is a nice story this year. He should win Comeback Player of the Year, but he is NOT the most valuable player in the league.

5. Aaron Rodgers/Tom Brady (tie). At times we just take greatness for granted. These two go out and perform, year in and year out, and lead their teams to the playoffs.

Without these two QB's on their teams, I doubt they'd qualify for the post-season.

(Either one could actually be ranked as high as #2 if you really wanted to argue their case).

Aaron & Tom. Ugh. So sick of them both I could barf.

I admire & like both the rookies but there are players more deserving.

I'm torn between Adrian & Peyton but if I were pushed to come to a decision I would choose Adrian.
