I remember when Slurpees were served over the counter at Seven Elevens and the only flavors were cherry and cola.

(Beef Jerky tasted better back in the 60's too but perhaps that is simply due to a much less sophisticated palate when I was seven.)

I remember when "love affairs" between people where one was less than 18 weren't considered a crime punishable by ruining the life of the older person.

That's always bothered me where some poor immature smuck who may have been 18 got labeled a child molester for falling in love with a 16 year old....there certainly should be some laws to protect kids from pervs/pedophiles but surely a small percentage of those convicted were because of pissed off parents who pressed charges and it could have ruined the young mans life forever....I dont know the solution to it...cause you have to have cut off ages....but there sure is a lot of difference between an 18 and 16 in love verses a guy who jumps out from behind a bush and rapes ....doesn't seem right they are on the same registry. Or are they. LC , are they?
Spay and neuter your dogs and cats. Ban gas chambers in your local shelters. User made the call. User made a difference! Love3

When my son turned 18 we had quite the convo about this. It's a distinction that's important because he understood what fucking sophomores really meant when he was a senior.

You're too young for this thread. It's 8-tracks and vinyl records for most of us in here.

Thats nice to hear. Most places I post are mostly populated with people in their late teens or early to late twenties. Never thought 38(39 in August) would be "too young".

Remember life expectancy under 60?
Remember entire towns wiped out by epidemics like cholera and the flu?
Remember the Dust Bowl? and the Great depression?
Remember when land disputes were settled with blankets full of smallpox?
Remember when civil rights disputes were settled with rope?
Remember when cocaine and heroin were legal?
Remember when alcohol wasn't?
Remember when cigarettes' health benefits and lead in paint and gas were selling points?
Remember when being poor would be enough to get you thrown in a dank cell?
Remember when being epileptic, sick with TB, or mentally ill would get you put somewhere even worse?
Remember when snail mail was the fastest way to get a message through, and it was a federal crime to read it?
Remember when you had to plan to be home to take a phone call?

The good old days had their moments, but most often I'm pretty damn glad I'm alive right here and now.
