I just hope it doesn't turn out that one of her parents killed her.
Mom seemed so indifferent in her interview, like she already knew the outcome.

Any asshole can have a kid.
Sometimes they survive in spite of them. RIP sweet little Reena. It's not your fault you never had a chance.

DANBURY, Wis. (KMSP) -
Sheriff's deputies in Burnett County, Wisconsin suspended the search for a missing 3-year-old girl on Wednesday evening after her body was found. "It is a tragic situation," said Burnett County Sheriff Dean Roland. "A precious life was lost." Officials say Reena Williams' body was found at about 4:50 p.m. about 25 yards from her home in 3 feet of water. Investigators are now in the process of draining the canal to look for evidence. An autopsy to determine the cause of death has been scheduled. Williams was last seen alive at about 6 p.m. Tuesday at her home in Danbury. Her mother, Jenna Danish, said her daughter loves to go fishing and play outside. "I came outside, I called for her, and the dog she had been playing with all day came up from the river and she was nowhere to be found," Danish said, describing the moment Tuesday night she realized her daughter was missing. "Where she went, the dog went. Wherever the dog went, she went." Danish told FOX 9 News it was normal for her daughter to play outside, but she insisted the girl would never wander off; however, Roland confirmed that neighbors found the girl wandering near her home twice on the day she went missing. They will be interviewed as part of the investigation. By 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the search was narrowed to a number of "high probability" zones within a half-mile of the girl's last-known location. Also on Wednesday afternoon, divers set up near the Danbury dam as they opened the gates to check for Reena. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources also had boats on the water looking for the girl. Reena's nanny told FOX 9 News that the girl knew not to go into the nearby Yellow River or woods by herself. The family's home is on a peninsula surrounded by the river and Yellow Lake. "I'm flabbergasted," Danish said. "I have no idea what to think. I have no idea where she's at. I wish she'd just come home." After her daughter's body was found, Danish thanked the Danbury community for coming together to help in the search. Read more: http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/story/192...z23fVRfWSO

A three year old "knows" no to go into the woods? Really??? They have no sense of how to control their impules at that age. How stupid! User is right, a three year old should never be allowed to wander away. When my boys were that age, they knew how to unlock the doors so we put chains on every outside door way up high so they couldn't reach them. Those chains were on at all time when we were home. No way one of my childen ws getting out.
This is just so sad.....another baby lost due to idiot parents.

I watched the video LC posted. I don't like the mother, she came across as belligerent to me. Yes, I judged her. She's responsible for her daughters death.

KSTP
Preliminary autopsy results show 3-year-old Renna William's died from an accidental drowning. After a nearly 24 hour search, the little girl was found dead in a canal near her Danbury, Wis. home Wednesday afternoon. Investigators drained and searched the canal Thursday. They are now doing 3D image mapping of the property. Friends describe Renna as a 'china doll' with an adventurous spirit. It's unclear what led Renna into the woods Tuesday. According to a family friend, her mom was sleeping and her dad was watching her. Renna's dad apparently went into the house to get something to drink, and that's when she disappeared. Sheriff Dean Roland tells KSTP, Renna's mother was shopping when the little girl's body was found. shopping? therapy? distraction? i'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt right now. Investigators are not saying whether Renna's death was an accident, or whether a crime was committed. The sheriff also says earlier on the same day she went missing and had been found wandering in Danbury, about 12 blocks away from her home. A neighbor took her back. The canal where her body was found was drained to search for any evidence. The sheriff there's nothing to indicate foul play but says part of the investigation will be to find out "who was watching her" and "why was she walking around alone before she went missing."

WQOW Burnett County Sheriff Dean Roland says Reena was discovered wandering in Danbury about 12 blocks from home on Tuesday. A neighbor found her and brought her to her parent's house. Hours later, she disappeared and was never seen alive again. Investigators say the girl's father was the last one to see her. He said she was playing outside, and he yelled out a window for her to get away from the water. Sometime after that, he couldn't find her and asked a nearby fisherman if he had seen the girl. When the angler suggested that police should be called, the father allegedly said, "We don't need any cops," and walked away. The fisherman then notified authorities, prompting the search. Hundreds of volunteers joined in that search. On Thursday, WQOW News 18 learned the girl's parents did not take part. Instead, they were at the nearby casino, which had offered them a free room after the sheriff's department took over their home during the investigation. There was also a delay on Wednesday in announcing the girl's death because the sheriff's department couldn't locate Reena's mother to notify her. Sheriff Roland says she was in Siren shopping for shoes and a cell phone. Roland says he thought that was "kind of bizarre, but says people grieve in different ways."
08-17-2012, 08:22 AM
I can honestly say that even with my great love for shoes, shopping for them would be the LAST thing on my mind if my daughter was missing. Yes people grieve in different ways, maybe she just knew her baby had fallen in that river and was in denial or shock, but very very strange. If I thought that I would have been jumping in that water myself
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I wonder if Dad was impaired while he was watching Reena. She was found 12 blocks away earlier, returned by a neighbor, then he "yelled out a window" for her to get away from the water? Sounds like he wasn't outside with her.
I have a feeling this one will go under "tragic circumstances" and be considered an accidental death. RIP Reena. |
