MEATBALLS!
#1

I'm making meatballs today. What ingredients do you use besides burger?

I should have asked this yesterday.

I actually like them better with ground chicken, but I use the same ingredients with hamburger too. I use 1 pound ground chicken or hamburger, 1 egg, 12 cup Italian bread crumbs, 12 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, 2 cloves garlic finely chopped, 1 tsp red pepper flakes, 14 cup of chopped fresh parsley and 12 tsp oregano and then let them simmer in the sauce.

Sausage is good too, but what do I know?
I've never prepared a meatball in my life but Rocco DiSpirito, famous chef out of New York makes a mean meatball and one of his ingredients (outside of what Sally has already posted) was sausage.

I've never cooked ground chicken before, what else do you use that in? It's a much healthier choice than beef.

I had everything except for the fresh parsley & I couldn't remember the last time I had used the bread crumbs so I trashed them. Smiley_emoticons_slash

Ground chicken just sounds mean.
What did chickens ever do to us that we must now grind them up?

I like ground beef, but switched to ground turkey when I was going leaner - was surprised that I actually like the meatballs better.

If you have saltines or Ritz crackers, those work in place of bread crumbs. I always add a little bit of Lawry's taco seasoning mix to my meatballs. (Damn it, I'm getting hungry now.)

Not a damn thing and now I feel guilty. For now on I'm making soybean balls with the spaghetti.

Duchess, you needn't throw out your breadcrumbs if you keep them in fridge. hah they hold a long time.
i like Progresso Italian seasoned bread crumbs, but plain ones are also good to have on hand.

I had a bad experience with flour once & now I trash anything if I can't recall the last time I used it.

The fridge is a good tip so is using crackers. Thanks!

I mix the chicken with chopped peppers, onions and celery that have been sauteed in a little olive oil, greek seasoning, lemon zest, pepper, 1 egg, fresh chopped parsley and bread crumbs. I shape it into a loaf and bake for about an hour.

Then I slice it and put it in whole wheat pita with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, purple onion, kalamata olives, non-fat plain yogurt and a little feta.
