Honestly I don't know if I could actually sit there and watch it, I have a feeling watching some dumpster dive and feed it to their family and the fabric for tp might make me heave.
$70 per year on ketchup is insane, I admit, i use ketchup a lot, on my mash potatoes, peas, cottage pie etc but I still maybe only buy 6 bottles per year, max $40 year on it.
ETA: I don't see any hyperlinks in any of the posts
Maybe it takes a lot of ketchup to make 3 months worth of ketchup soup for his family.

Where does this guy shop that he spends $70 a year on ketchup? If you use that much, get a membership to sams club or such.

We don't use a bottle of ketchup a year for christssake. I can't buy it any smaller than I already do.

My father puts ketchup on everything, its disgusting. Even with all the ketchup he uses, even with three kids and two adults in the house, I seriously doubt we went through more than $20 in ketchup a year.

Is it just me, or is it tacky and in bad taste to have a Chinese auction at your bridal shower and to sell 50⁄50 tickets at your wedding reception? It seems as if using them makes it blatantly obvious that you're asking for money. I went to one wedding reception where someone was selling 50/50's and the tickets said "Help us pay for a honeymoon!" Since when is it the guests responsibility to help pay for that, when they've already purchased a gift and/or put money in a card? I never used to see this, not even 5 years ago. Now it seems like everytime there's a shower or a wedding, there's some sort of ploy for them to get money.

I've seen things like that in recent years. One wedding couple had an online wish list where you could purchase things for them to enjoy on their honeymoon like massages & very pricey bottles of booze. I think it's as cheesy as it gets, seriously low class, it borders on begging.

I guess times are different, where couples are expected to pay for most, if not all, of their wedding, but i feel like if you can't afford it, you don't have it.

Agreed. Everyone has to have these elaborate over the top weddings like the celebrities do and it's ridiculous. There is no need to spend $50k on a wedding and go into debt for it. Put the money down on a house! And don't expect me to pony up hundreds of dollars to pay for this elaborate wedding and honeymoon.

You can do a simple, yet elegant wedding for very little money that doesn't require begging your guests to foot the bill.

Have any of you received a wedding invitation with a smaller card enclosed requesting money instead of a gift? For some reason this rubbed me the wrong way - maybe because it was his second marriage in 3 years.

It rubbed you the wrong because it's crass. Gifts are the givers choice & befitting the occasion, any time money is mentioned it demeans the occasion.

Good grief. That would rub me the wrong way whether it was a first or 20th wedding. I don't mind the gift registry, even though i know that's considered bad manners as well. Its much easier to buy something you know they need and not have to worry everyone else got them the same thing.

I think a gift registry is appropriate but I don't want to pay for your wedding, your massage or your fuckin' chocolate covered strawberries...yes, that was one of the things on the list of booze & his/her massages.

I'm not paying for any of that. I think thats absurd. Id buy them a book on etiquette before id pay for any of that. In fact, I might pick up a couple of books to have on hand. I'm going to 6 weddings within the next year and I'm sure at least half will have some sort of pan-handling for money going on.
