Do you trust your spouse/partner? Tomorrow, one of my best friends is coming over to make cookies. The Chef will be at work. This particular friend is a male. We do lots of stuff together, bands, movies, bars...sometimes the chef can join us, sometimes he can't, but he has no problem with the time we spend together. He has plenty of women friends that he will hang out with, with and without me, and I have no issue with that. Some people think this is strange, that we have platonic relationships with members of the opposite sex and neither one of us is raging mad over it. To put it plainly, we trust each other. Is that so unusual?
Just shut up. Just shut the fuck up right now.

Is it unusual? Probably. Most people that don't trust their SO are usually the ones that can't be trusted. Or they are very insecure. Whether or not you trust someone has no bearing on if and/or when they will betray that trust.
I usually trust people in a limited way until they either prove themselves trustworthy or untrustworthy. A person's behavior towards other people affects my feelings of trust for that person. For example if I someone told Lucy something personal and she turned around and told me, I would be leary about sharing my own things with her. Who's to say she wouldn't betray my confidence as well?
((edit to add: Lucy is in no way untrustworthy. I just used her name since we know each other in real life. She knows my secrets and I am late on my payments so I wanted to make it clear she is great!

Trust is everything.
What I find unusual is when people stay in relationships when they don't trust the other person.

Bum!!!
Whatever it is Lucy, foreclose, repossess...something. Throw her sorry ass under the bus; she's a bilker for sure. I can sense it.
