So now that Thanksgiving is over, I am curious to know if other MOCK members have some really odd family members?
For instance, during this recent Thanksgiving an uncle jumped up from our dinner table and announced that he “didn’t fit in” and then proceeded to lecture us on how he was a libertarian. I know this may shock some of you, but I asked him if that meant he carried around books and a torch when he wanted to make a point. Which only infuriated him more. We were discussing welfare reform and this guy went bat shit cuckoo about it, or maybe because our jokes were not funny to him. Hmmmm

The rest of the family was all dressed up like the Village People, right? Don't tell me it was an all oiled up Roman Toga theme!
He must be a bit old fashioned, those get easily pissed off at such.

Ha! I wish they dressed like that; the toga theme would have been a nice touch! Though, they do all go out of their way for fantasy fest every October!
Old fashioned? No, he's just a dumb asshole.....lol

Nope, everyone in the family is as normal as I.
Actually, SC, everyone in the family is a bit eccentric, regardless of age (except my older sister). We blame genetics.
We had an indoor Thanksgiving Dinner table and an outdoor table this year (and another small table for the little ones); 3 outbursts total, but no permanent damage done. Everyone was cool by pumpkin pie time.
P.s. I like Mo's Toga Thanksgiving theme too; maybe next year. Bet I could sell it...

I have an uncle who...well, sounds like a complete pedophile but if he is, he's never been caught. My aunt swears he's just a perpetual kid who tries to talk to kids and make them feel normal. I can't explain it without a story. We never see this uncle but after my dad died, he wanted to stay in touch. He decided he'd make a tradition of taking all of his great nieces/nephews somewhere special for their 13th birthdays. First up was my sister's son. I was thinking no fucking way is he taking my kids anywhere but she let them go to San Diego. First night, they're sleeping in separate beds and my uncle says to my nephew "you know, sometimes boys and men get hard in their sleep and that's completely normal". Nephew freaks out, waits till he's asleep and hits the streets. Fortunately we have a family friend who lives down there who went and picked him up. Trip over.
He came to visit our house briefly last year and one of the first things he asked about my daughter was if she was "menstruating" yet. WTF??????
He's just weird. I would never leave him alone with my kids. No, no, no. My dad didn't even really like his younger brother. He just tolerated him.
I would characterize the rest of us as mildly dysfunctional.

OMG, we have one of those as well!!! We refer to him as the pervert. Total dirtball and he is not allowed in the family or vacation homes. Plus his girlfriend is a script junkie! Go figure!!!

It probably won't get any better with time either.
My ex and younger son (24yrs old) had a falling out a few yrs back (over a fucking weed whacker FFS!!) and haven't spoke since.
They crossed paths a few months back in Walmart. My son went up to him and said "hey, what's up" and his dad cocked his head, grunted, and rolled his eyes. The stupid fucker is always threatening to kill himself...I say "WTF are you waiting for".

Yep, me too.
ETA: I also have a lush aunt who is usually sloshed by 10:00a.m. in the kitchen, trying to put her fingers in the food. :gag:
My mother invited my mother in law to her home this year. She's about 100 pounds soaking wet. We have to hide the sweets from her when she is at our home because they will be gone over night. I asked her to please not get into the pies we baked until dinner time. Sure as shit, she got up in the middle of the night and ate a pound cake, a pumpkin pie and half of a pecan pie.
I was astounded. WTF

He threatens to kill himself? My eyes rolled so far in my head reading that I almost fell over.

Yep...same here. The real shitty thing is that his sister DID commit suicide and he would actually say that in front of his mother.
Yeah...I picked a REAL winner there...

I often look back and wonder what the hell was wrong with me that I married him, much less dated him.

He didn't show his true character & he probably wasn't a full blown alcoholic at that point.

Yesterday, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended legalizing gay marriage on the grounds that it fosters the good health and well-being of children.
"It is better that children have two parents than one parent, and assuming that these parents love each other and love the child and have economic and social security and stability, then that's the critical ingredient for the optimal growth and development of the child," said Dr. Benjamin Siegel, head of an AAP committee that studied the issue.
Ironically, on the same day in Australia, the PM apologized to the thousands of unwed mothers who were forced (by government policies) to give up their babies for adoption so they could be adopted by married couples, which was perceived to be in the children's best interests.
