Can't they all agree on a damn number?

So, the Kansas City area is supposed to get between 6-24 inches of snow tonight/tomorrow...depending on which news station you watch.

Does anyone else get annoyed when news stations can't agree on a number? Aren't they all looking at the same damn maps, graphs, radar...whatever?

We just got 11 inches last Wednesday, and now facing another shit ton. This is the most snow we have had in several years combined. People are losing their minds. Store shelves are empty like it's the end of the world.

Many communities have that same issue.

Whatever you do, don't depend on The Weather Channel for facts, their drama is often an academy award winning performance.

Every state has different elevations and to expect anyone to figure a snow amount exactly is nuts. If a station predict 10 and only 8 happen they get a bunch of bitching, if it predicts 8 and it snows 12 they get bitched at. Know this........Nobody can predict mother nature with any degree of certainty. Common sense should prevail here but maybe not.

It must be bad, it made my evening news and I live hundreds of miles away on the East Coast.

It is going to be a bitch!! Oh well, my husband is out getting the last few things we need. Other than that...we are ready to hunker down for a few days.

Both of the schools my children attend have called off classes til Friday, even though the snow hasn't fallen yet. My school was called of for tonight and tomorrow.

Good luck and if you have a generator start it up and run it for 15 min so its ready and you dont get stuck trying to start it in the dark. I noticed at home depot that flashlights were going for 26.00 right before the storm and after the storm the same flashlights were going for 9.99 that pisses me off when things get marked up like that on others misery.

Funny how the media coverage differs. Havent heard a peep of this on the national news, or even on the Yahoo homepage. But man, a little snowstorm like this happens in NYC/east coast, and it's akin to Armageddon, and gets all kinds of coverage.

They cancelled schools for 4 days in anticipation of a snow storm?? Wow. What if you don't get it that bad? They would never do that here.

Know what we call two feet of snow here in upstate? Mildly annoying. Watching states less prepared for weather scramble and panic is pretty funny...
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.

People here are stupid in the snow, stoooopid & they become absolutely frantic when it's even hinted at in a forecast.

Blizzard of 78...school closed for 2 whole weeks.

They would have that cleaned up in a day with todays equipment...in town anyway.

Oh how I remember the blizzard of 78 ! I had seven kids delivering the Blade. (450 total customers) They all got delivered ! I think, to this day, people carry a tooth brush and deodorant to work with them if it looks like really bad storm coming.

You don't remember what you typed a few minutes ago but clearly you remember the blizzard of '78.

I guess it's true that short term memory is the first to go. Smiley_emoticons_slash

So we got about 20 inches of snow at my house total, between the 2 days. About 95,000 people have lost power in the metro area. We were fortunate, and still have ours. We have house guests tonight because they have three small children, and no power.
