I knew it was pretty bad out there but there is no way in hell I would have ever thought it came in second.

I thought people that age would die from illness or tragic accidents, not from violence. I sorta feel like I did when I learned that the leading cause of death of pregnant women is murder.

I'm not sure I buy that statistic. Where is it from?

No, the children one.

(Reuters Health) - Expectant mothers are more likely to die from murder or suicide than several of the most common pregnancy-related medical problems, U.S. researchers have found. Story I can find several examples if you like.

If it's CDC numbers, I see they do something kind of tricky that would skew the results... they have four year age brackets until they get to 15, then they create a new 15-24 age bracket.
The violence and suicide deaths in that bracket alone would skew a 'youth' category way too much. From he top 10 the CDC listed for 2010, looking at birth to 14 years old, homicide and suicide were 913 of the 24,180 deaths that made up the top ten categories. Still too many either way.

Yes, Mr. Bone, it is from the CDC. There are quite a few articles but I thought that might be the most trustworthy reporting. I was wrong, huh?

Here is the chart where I pulled my info from for anyone interested. Note the dramatic increase in that 15-24 bracket when it comes to homicide / suicide: http://www.cdc.gov/injury/wisqars/pdf/10...2010-a.pdf

Judging from all the child abuse stories I see each and every day, it really doesn't surprise me. People are fucking sick.
Just shut up. Just shut the fuck up right now.
