I'm sure you do.

The face in the mirror . . . every damned time, huh?

Too bad you're not pursuing a doctoral degree.

It would give you a bit more credibility when you spout your claims.

You'd actually be qualified to research and test . . . instead of guess.

Like you did with Mother's Day! hah

Nice to see this years American mothers day was celebrated with that old American tradition of a mass shooting in New Orleans.

19 people wounded including 2 children. I'm sure the children understand and appreciate the right of nutcases to bear arms without any background checks.

Who's willing to bet the nutcase responsible used firearms that were purchased legally like the vast majority of mass shootings in America?

The problem is, all those people in the Mother's Day parade were UNARMED. If only all those spectators were packing, there might have been a different outcome.

Yeah, having MORE people packing will of course mean LESS gun related deaths. Clearly a return to the days of the fucking WILD west is a sensible solution to Americas gun homicide disease.

CN, she was being cynical, just for you.

I'm with her on this one.

Gun proponents have long stated that more legally purchased firearms will mean a better chance that a 'good guy' will be armed and in the area when a nutjob goes off with a gun.

Too bad it's rarely, if ever, that way.

Has it ever occurred to you that it's that way because those with legally purchased guns follow the rules? There are a plethora of gun free zones these days and the only people who abide by that are law abiding citizens, thugs sure don't.

Are you kidding?

If the NRA could get their hands on a story like that, they'd splash it everywhere.

It doesn't happen.

Yes, it does happen. Recently either F U or Six posted a couple stories regarding it that no one else had heard about. These kind of stories don't sell, there is no controversy regarding them. The media only likes to report on fucked up bs.

Oh, user was in fact being sarcastic? In that case apologise and withdraw my previous post.

I agree with you and user gun proliferation is the PROBLEM not the solution.

I am at a complete loss how someone with an IQ higher than their shoe size can come to the conclusion that MORE guns will equal LESS gun related crime and death?

It is illogical captain.

Having more guns is like throwing gasoline on a fire in an attempt to try and put it out.

Well, I was in complete support of the the QUOTE CONTROL/TRIMMING campaign advocated by Cynical Ninja.

WTF happened to your commitment therein, CN?

I'm watching the quotes and poised to cap repeat offenders.

Not really. But, I do support quote-trimming, 100%.

I haven't got time to fanny about quote trimming when I'm at work, normally I practice what I preach but in this case I have to hold my hat up and say whoops!

I will be obsessively quote trimming when I get home though to try and redeem a tiny bit of dignity.

hah

Alright, since you're not a repeat offender and you've expressed remorse, you're not under the gun.

P.s. Too much time in the crime forum has me looking sideways at everyone and quick on the draw.

I tend to avoid the crime forum not because I'm not interested in crime but because some of the baying troglodytes in there scare the bejezzus out of me.

Nah, there are some really smart crime followers in those caves. LC attracted a good lot of justice-seekers.

If you get a chance and feel like it, peek in there sometime.

I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts on the Leila Fowler case. Her brother is 12 years old and was just arrested for stabbing her to death after telling police an intruder had done it. I'm worried about the likely sentencing that will be handed down if he's convicted. He's a child, but it's such a brutal crime. The law doesn't seem to have a solution that fits, imo.

You couldn't be more correct!

http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/natio...2693.story

Gun crime has plunged in the United States since its peak in the middle of the 1990s, including gun killings, assaults, robberies and other crimes, two new studies of government data show.

Yet few Americans are aware of the dramatic drop, and more than half believe gun crime has risen, according to a newly released survey by the Pew Research Center.

In less than two decades, the gun murder rate has been nearly cut in half. Other gun crimes fell even more sharply, paralleling a broader drop in violent crimes committed with or without guns. Violent crime dropped steeply during the 1990s and has fallen less dramatically since the turn of the millennium.
