HAILEY DUNN, 13, missing/killed --Texas
DPS: Decomposed Body Discovered in Scurry Co.

The body appears to have been there a while, judging from how much it has decomposed, and authorities have not been able to yet determine age or gender, Dean said.

After it is recovered, the body will be sent to the Medical Examiner's office in either Lubbock or Ft. Worth.

I hope Hailey's alive, but I've always believed that she died in her mother's home 2 nights before she was reported missing; the "I thought she was sleeping over at a friend's house" story was complete bullshit.

If Hailey's dead, I hope these are her remains and police can compel Adkins and Dunn to talk. It's been so long now, I doubt there's much that can be learned from the body, but I hope there's some smoking gun pointing back to the guilty parties.

Shawn Adkins worked in Snyder, till he oddly quit and walked off the job the same morning that Hailey supposedly disappeared.

Billie Dunn's mom lived in Snyder too; that's where they went to withdraw money for drugs the night before Hailey was reported missing.

If fits that this could be Hailey's body; hope the body is ID'd soon.

From the early days of the missing person investigation:
During that same polygraph, according to the affidavit, Adkins indicated that Hailey Dunn could be found in Scurry County. The results of his polygraph, indicated he was telling the truth. However, when investigators asked him, a second time, if he knew where Hailey was, he refused to answer the question. Investigators asked Adkins who they should be looking at, in regards to Hailey's disappearance, to which Adkins replied "both of us."

Looks like it's gonna take a couple of weeks to identify the body.

Everything Billie Dunn says sounds off and self-centered to me; never as if her focus is on her missing daughter's well-being. All about Billie. Used to be about her and Shawn, her soulmate, live-in lover, and the Person of Interest in Hailey's disappearance. She's a liar and a cold-hearted bitch, imo. Even if she wasn't involved with Hailey's disappearance (very small if, imo), she's a real piece of work.

According to this interview a few days ago, Billie's done with Shawn now. For real this time. She hates him! And, she now thinks it's possible that all of the circumstantial evidence and opinions pointing towards his involvement in Hailey's disappearance since day 1 were accurate. She'll sell him out in a heartbeat if both were involved, imo.

Katelyn Markham's remains were identified rather quickly through DNA testing.

However, the remains found in Scurry County almost a month ago still haven't been identified, or at least no ID has been released (that I could find).

The only recent article that I found is this brief interview with the man who came across the remains while fossil hunting.

By The Associated Press

SNYDER, Texas — Remains found in a remote West Texas location last month are those of a 13-year-old middle school cheerleader missing since December 2010, authorities announced Friday.

Follow @NBCNewsUS

Hailey Darlene Dunn's remains were found near Lake J.B. Thomas in Scurry County on March 16, more than two years after her mother reported her missing.

The girl's disappearance and the cause of her death remain under investigation, Scurry County Sheriff Trey Wilson said at a news conference Friday. The Scurry County District Attorney's Office received written confirmation of the identity of the remains on Friday, he said.

Texas Rangers informed the girl's mother, Billie Jean Dunn, on Friday afternoon at her Austin home, said her attorney, John Young. Dunn will be driving to West Texas to arrange her daughter's funeral, he said.

The body was found about 20 miles northwest of the girl's hometown of Colorado City. The girl had been the subject of months of intensive searches in and around Colorado City and surrounding fields and landfills after her mother reported her missing on Dec. 28, 2010. More than 100 billboards featuring her picture and information about the case were set up along interstates in Texas and other states.

The mother's boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, has said he last saw Hailey a day before she was reported missing. He said the girl told him she was going to her father's home nearby and then on to spend the night at a friend's home. She did neither.

Authorities had named Adkins as a person of interest in the girl's disappearance, but he was never charged. At one point, authorities accused the girl's mother of lying about the whereabouts of Adkins, who was found at her home. Billie Dunn pleaded no contest in June 2011 to making a false report to law enforcement and received a suspended 90-day jail term with probation.

The mother and Adkins have denied involvement in Hailey's disappearance.

Hailey's paternal grandfather, Bill Dunn, died in 2011, six months after the girl went missing. His widow, Spicy Dunn of Ponca City, Okla., said her husband spent much of the last months of his life trying to learn what became of his granddaughter.

"He was very, very hurt, and was on the computer all the time looking and trying to find anything that had to do with Hailey," she said Friday. "Anything."

She said family members made a point not to change their phone numbers so that law enforcement officials could reach them in case of any developments, even years later.

"It is a relief to know that she's at peace," Spicy Dunn said. "She doesn't have any more suffering."

She later added, "I hope the family comes to a closure. I know it's very hard."

Thanks for the update @imsuchawildflower.

Very relieved that Hailey's remains have finally been located. Time to get real with this investigation now.

Way too many coincidences and inconsistencies from mommy and her boy toy regarding Hailey's disappearance/death for the liars not to be at the top of the suspect list, officially or unofficially.

If he and/or she didn't kill Hailey (personally, I think it was them and it was a joint effort), then they at least know way more than they're saying, IMO.

Trusting that the heat is on and there's some hard core grilling of Shawn Adkins and Billie Jean Dunn underway. Sure hope so.

Very interested in watching this case progress.

RIP Hailey Dunn.

What's your thinking on Billie's involvement?

Do you think she was actively involved in the death, duped by Shawn and then helped him cover up, or just a dumb nasty bitch who was too blinded by lust to keep from inviting a violent drug abuser to live with her and her children? None of the above?

I'm interested to see how Hailey's father, Clint Dunn, and paternal grandmother, Connie Jones, are taking the news. Clint seemed to think Hailey was human trafficked and alive. Connie Jones felt that Shawn Adkins killed her granddaughter from the start. Will keep an eye out for statements from them; appreciate others posting anything of interest as well.

Shawn Adkins, the live-in boyfriend of the victim's mother, was named the official Person of Interest (POI) in the case. Billie Dunn, the teen victim's mother, was named a POI, then she wasn't, then she was...eventually she wasn't "officially" named AFAIK.

Hailey got screwed when it comes to responsible parental figures, to say the least.

For anyone new to Hailey's case, Lady Cop had all of the key information covered, as always. This thread provides a good overview of the case and the players.

I think Shawn did it. I think if Billi didnt know, she had intuition that he did, & chose to ignore it due to lust & perhaps him having something to hold over her head...which lends itself to the question of did she comply, participate, have knowledge & how much...are any of those questions what shes scared of the world knowing?

This is a profile pic that Billie posted on her Facebook page today. I think it was after she received the news about the remains being Hailey's, but not sure?

Anyway, she looks incredibly different than she did two years ago. Much younger. I don't know if she had work done in the last 2 years while Hailey was missing, but looks like it.

Normally, I wouldn't be interested in such. However, in this case, some of the criminal psychologists who appeared on Nancy Grace and internet blogs theorized that Billie viewed Hailey's burgeoning beauty as a threat/competition.

If Billie was involved in the death of her daughter and that theory is true in part or in full, Billie's appearance and teen-like bickering and threats over the internet could be relevant to the case and the investigation.

Just heard that Hailey was found. No words really. It is just bad all the way around. Would like to see the murderer held accountable. An arrest made. Some sort of Justice. At least now, LE can possibly move forward.

I'm glad she was found. I suppose this is the end many of us thought would be.

I hope LE can move forward now as well.

Justice...it's what Billie wants too, that's what she says.

Posted on her behalf on the Hope for Hailey Facebook page:

I have received such a great out pouring of love & condolences,so much so that I couldn't name you all individually. Thank you to everyone who held hope up until we couldn't any longer. My hope has ended, but now closure can begin for me,my beautiful son & husband, all our family & friends. My baby has been found. Now to get her home where she belongs & get her justice. Today I learned my daughter has been murdered. Robbed of her short, innocent life. I'm just so grief stricken, but on the other hand,I can take some comfort knowing my baby is safe & happy.

Count on it, Billie.

Hope that having the body allows LE to make an arrest(s) soon.

I know this is nitpicking but it bugs me that she uses the words "safe & happy". The girl is dead...murdered & discarded like trash. Safe & happy would be alive and well, living her life.

I don't think it's nitpicky. Just observant. It's a very strange statement. Billie's statements are often "off" and extremely telling to me; the one you picked up on is no exception.

This is from her own FB page yesterday:
https://www.facebook.com/billiejean.ostrander

I can't even go get her. I just want to go be with her,I haven't known where she is for 30 months now. I'm ready to go get her. I want her now. 15 hours ago via mobile

Hailey hasn't been missing 30 months, it's been 28 months. I know that off the top of my head, you'd think Hailey's mother would know. Maybe it comes across as nitpicky that it bothered me, but I think the misstatement is revealing. Most (innocent) parents of missing children know the exact amount of time; it's not a give or take a couple of months kinda deal.

Billie irritates me to no end. No matter what, she always includes some sorta proclamation that she "doesn't know", even when it doesn't fit the context of the message. From the start, it made me suspect that she did in fact know. JMO. She's all about Billie, all the time, even when the subject is her missing/dead daughter.

I like this picture of Hailey.

Really hoping her killer(s) are arrested and made to answer for their crimes soon.
