HAILEY DUNN, 13, missing/killed --Texas
(04-27-2013, 10:46 AM)HairOfTheDog Wrote: Hailey hasn't been missing 30 months, it's been 28 months. I know that off the top of my head, you'd think Hailey's mother would know.

A parent stressin' over their missing child would know exactly how long it had been missing, even I know that. Parents of lost children can often tell you down to the minute of how long they have been gone. I know that from the crime forum & from the news.

Yuk. That woman reminds me of Casey Anthony. I know it's been a long time but I sure hope the body provides some clues.

Words shared from a friend of Hailey's family facebook status and the picture shared from Hailey's Great Aunt

We were living in our imaginary bubble. We were naive, but so hopeful that it became impossible for Hailey not to come home safe. I listen to her family as they too try accept the unacceptable, it is excruciating. The questions will not stop and have become a tormentor of possible answers that no one should know their child may have gone through. Eyes can't close for sleep, because then you might dream. Hidden fears become the pictures behind your eyes haunting. My very soul is in physical pain, I feel it in my heart and mind and yet everything is numb in me by comparison to what her mom, dad and brother feel. The tortured screams through the phone telling me her baby was dead I will hear forever, but they will never stop for them, the screams have become their life. She was bigger than life, such a bright light that she touched thousands that only knew her picture, my loves so true for Hailey and her family that I pray Lord, ask, beg for peace to soothe and build a new bubble that is more clear to see through, but that they can hold Hailey tight to them and go on until they meet again

Thanks @imsuchawildlflower!

I read that Clint Dunn is working out of state and there's no word as to if/when he'll be returning. Haven't seen any statement from him. I did see that his mother, Connie Jones, made a statement about not understanding how someone could abduct and kill a child.

No date released for the funeral yet, AFAIK.

Lots of talk on social media.

The missing banner from the roadside has now been moved to the roof of Hailey's home, reportedly. Must be quite difficult for Hailey's Angels and others who have been searching non-stop for 28 months to process all of this and adjust; for some, the search became a major focus in their daily lives.

This is Friday's official press statement confirming that the Scurry County remains were those of Hailey Dunn.

"On March 16 2013 , local authorities were notified of human remains near Lake J.B. Thomas in southwest Scurry County. The remains were sent to the University of North Texas Center for Human Remains; and on April 26, 2013, the Scurry County District Attorney's Office received written confirmation that the remains have been positively identified as those of Hailey Dunn. On December 28, 2010, 13 -year-old Hailey Dunn was reported missing by her mother, Billie Dunn, and a report was taken by the Colorado City Police Department; and she has been listed as a missing person since that day. This is a joint investigation between the Scurry County Sheriff's Office, Mitchell County Sheriff's Office, Colorado City Police Department, FBI, Texas Rangers, and local and county officials."

Hoping the FBI and Rangers are still actively involved.

...Lloyd (man who discovered the remains) had a feeling that the remains belonged to Dunn based on articles of clothing found at the scene, but was not positive until officials publically confirmed the identity on Friday.

"To think that someone could do that to a beautiful child, it just breaks my heart," Lloyd told the station.

The investigation into Dunn's death is ongoing. No charges have been filed in the case.

Former Colorado City Manager, Pete Kampfer, has confirmed that the area where the remains were found had been searched before. I wonder if Hailey was buried and somehow became unearthed, or if her body was moved from another site, or if she was simply missed during the searches.

Very curious as to what articles of clothing were found; what exactly Hailey was wearing varied a bit in the missing person descriptions.

Shawn Adkins was self-reportedly the last person to see Hailey on the afternoon of December 27th 2010 around 3 pm, when he claims Hailey told him she was going to spend the night at a friend's house. He had suddenly walked off his job that same morning. His phone stopped pinging for several hours that day as well.

Hailey was reported missing the next afternoon by her mother, exactly 28 months ago yesterday.

IMO Billie either had a hand in Hailey's death or knows exactly how it happened. I don't believe that Shawn acted alone. I think they will both try and cut a deal now that Hailey's remains are ID'd.

Think of yourself. If you knew or suspected that your boyfriend killed your daughter would you stay with him, hide him from the cops, try to help him beat a polygraph, move away from the area with him? Even crazy psycho bitches don't help their boyfriends hide the murder of their (the woman's) child, unless they had a hand in it or can some way be implicated in the act.

As an aside, where da hell is Billie getting money for cosmetic surgery? It looks like she's had an eye job and a breast augmentation. Does welfare pay for that shit now?

I dont think she was missed, because he stated he saw something & went to investigate. Im wondering if she was unearthed by animals or perhaps she was unearthed/uncovered by the incredible amount of windy weather weve had this winter/spring.

Im wondering if they have published the full list of questions asked during the polygraph tests. Id like to know the progression and implications in the questioning. I think Shawn did it with the mothers consent to cover it up. All the crap they found on the computers, in the house and from interviews with family & friends about his sick perverse interests and Billie referring to them as a hobby. She is protecting Shawn for some reason...Id love to know what that reason is.

I keep looking for news about Hailey's funeral (and hopefully more about the investigation).

According to this article released yesterday, the remains still haven't been released to the family.

Billie's slimy cheating-drunken-gun toting lawyer, Young, is still trying to portray Billie as someone who is not at all suspected by LE as having any knowledge/involvement. Bullshit.

If Adkins had a part in Hailey's death and implicates Billie, she's gonna claim that he's just a disgruntled ex and lying because she rejected him and broke his heart. Just speculation, but a direction that I could easily see this taking.

Update 4/30:
Hailey Dunn’s mother hasn’t been questioned by law enforcement since the Colorado City teen’s remains were found in March near Lake JB Thomas in Scurry County, her attorney said Tuesday.
Related

“Absolutely has not,” said John Young, who is representing Billie Jean Dunn as local, state and federal investigators continue to investigate the death.

Young said Internet and other reports surfacing to the contrary are “patently false and inaccurate.”

Billie Dunn’s live-in boyfriend at the time of the middle school cheerleader’s late December 2010 disappearance – Shawn Adkins – has been the only named “person of interest” in the case.

However, Young said, “I do not know what’s happening with Shawn,” noting Billie Dunn hasn’t had any contact with him “in months.”

Young said the only contact law enforcement has had with Billie Dunn since her daughter’s remains were found “has been for the purposes of updating her on the status of lab tests and DNA tests to determine the identity of the remains.”

Efforts to reach Adkins for comment in recent weeks have been unsuccessful.

“It’s tragic. It’s sad. It’s a circumstance we all don’t want to have to live through,” Young said.

Meanwhile, Young said law enforcement still hasn’t released Hailey Dunn’s remains to her parents and that he hasn’t been told when he should expect them to be released.

Young said he understands Billie Dunn has had contact with Hailey Dunn’s father, Clint, and that he expects them to reach agreement as to funeral arrangements.

According to Young, an open-to-the-public memorial service will likely be held to honor Hailey Dunn’s life, as well as those who searched and prayed relentlessly for her after her disappearance.

On April 26, local, state and federal officials confirmed the remains found at Lake JB Thomas were those of the previously missing Colorado City teen.

In mid-March, DPS, Texas Ranger and FBI investigators spent three and a half days at the crime scene to gather the teen’s scattered remains and any evidence that could lead to a conviction. They were able to identify her through dental records.

Hailey Dunn was 13-years-old when her mother reported her missing on Dec. 28, 2010.

According to investigators, Adkins quit his job in Snyder the day of the teen’s disappearance and is the last known person to have seen her.

According to Billie Dunn and Adkins, Hailey was on her way to a friend’s house across the street from their home in the 1800 block of Chestnut Street when she went missing.

The pair failed polygraph tests when questioned about Hailey, according to an affidavit.

On two occasions, Adkins reportedly walked out of the polygraph examinations he volunteered for. He failed the first phase of his third exam and, during the second phase, indicated Hailey Dunn could be found in Scurry County but refused to complete the exam when more specific questions about her location were asked.

According to the affidavit, investigators used cell phone records to discover Adkins allegedly did not accurately portray his whereabouts the day of Hailey Dunn’s whereabouts. Investigators said he visited Colorado City the day she went missing at a time she likely would have been home alone.

Investigators also said they discovered hundreds of articles about mass murderers in Adkins’s and Billie Dunn’s bedroom. Billie took responsibility for printing them out.

Six months after Hailey’s disappearance, Billie Dunn moved to Austin.

You would think LE would tell an innocent parent anything of interest that was found with or about Haileys body.
Not just the bare minimum.
This article glaringly left out that Billie didnt pass her polygraph either & walked out as well.

Young's a media hound and he's spinning, imo.

I believe that he and his client know full well that Billie Jean Dunn is and always has been under investigation for the disappearance/death of her daughter.

Imo, Young is proactively jumping out to position Billie as the angry grieving mother and to distance her from Shawn Adkins before the next shoe drops (he says again in this interview yesterday that she hasn't spoken to him in months, if not longer).

LE has still not released the body to the family.

Here's his interview with Newswest 9 yesterday.

I wonder what's the real story behind LE not releasing Hailey's body to Billie.

Maybe they're sill examining evidence as Billie claims they've told her, but they've had the body for a month and a half. Long time. Maybe they wanna wait and watch some people's actions and communications for a while?

From yesterday:
Investigators into the death of Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn are remaining tight lipped about any new information into the manner or cause of her death or when her remains will be released to her family.

Hailey Dunn’s mother has not been questioned by investigators since the remains were found March 16 at Lake J.B. Thomas in Scurry County.

Katherine Chaumont, the spokeswomen for the FBI who is based in Dallas, said that Scurry County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Rangers, Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers are among the agencies participating in the investigation.

“Hailey will be released to me, but it might not be real soon as they are being meticulous collecting any evidence,” Billie Jean Dunn wrote. “I'm grateful they are keeping me updated and doing everything to insure they miss nothing. I want her home, but am definitely not going to rush them. I trust they are doing everything necessary to get what they need & to get her home. As soon as we decide on a date for Hailey's memorial we will post it here for all of you. Again thank you all so much for your prayers, your kindness, and your patience.”

Thanking the searchers after all of this time, praising investigators, no transparent statement to convince that she knows nothing... Yep, Billie's lawyer is advising her on what to say and how to say it; doesn't even sound like good ole Billie.

Memorial Scheduled

A memorial service for Hailey Dunn, the Colorado City teen who was missing for almost two-and-half years, is slated for 3 p.m. May 19 at the Colorado Middle School gym.

A post on the Hope for Hailey Facebook page indicates the community memorial will be for family, friends and anyone in the community who wishes to celebrate Hailey’s life. The post indicates the family will hold a private funeral service. The time and location of the private funeral service has not been disclosed.

The family chose the gym because Hailey, who was a cheerleader at the time of her disappearance, spent a lot of time there.

“I just want my precious Hailey to have a nice memorial,” Billie Jean Dunn posted on Facebook. “It’s only about her, all about Hailey. Come hell or high water nobody is ruining her day. I love you Hailey and will continue to try to give you what you deserve. You deserve the best memorial ever.”

Billie Dunn's choice of words always leaves me scratching my head.

Weird and suspicious, imo.

I think they are either watching people like you said ie actions, statements, communications etc or Im wondering if there
are plans for cremation, so they are holding off in case something comes up that might need to be checked out or double
checked. Im also in agreement that Young is obviously coaching her. These statements use language small town Texas girls of
her caliber just dont use.

Billies insistance on it being only about Hailey, makes me think shes doing this for herself, to try and cover her own feelings
actions etc...its more of an effort to skew public opinion rather than whats really going or has gone on. Smoke screen of
sorts.

EXCLUSIVE: Billie Dunn's Lawyer Talks With NewsWest 9
Posted: May 02, 2013 6:10 PM MDT Updated: May 02, 2013 10:59 PM MDT

By Devin Sanchez
NewsWest 9

Billie Dunn's attorney John Young spoke with NewsWest 9 Thursday to clear some things up.
Young told NewsWest 9 Hailey's remains are still being investigated, which is why they haven't been released to Hailey Dunn's mother, Billie. He also said regardless of what some may want to believe, Billie is just a mother, who will have to lay her child to rest, far too soon.

"We are not made privy or aware to how that investigation is proceeding," Young explained.

At this time, Dunn is not being questioned in the disappearance and death of her 13-year-old daughter who went missing from Colorado City more than two years ago.

"We have not been contacted by any law enforcement agency, other than to discuss the release of the remains," he said.

Billie has been informed of which law enforcement agency is rejoining the case.

"It's my understanding that the Texas Rangers and local law enforcement have asked, invited, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which we think is a good thing. The goal is to find out what happened to Hailey," he said.

Hailey's remains were found back in March by Big Spring man, Curtis Lloyd. Lloyd was searching for fossils at Lake JB Thomas in Scurry County. Young explained how Billie felt that Hailey's remains were found so close to home.

"Anger in the sense that could more have been done, earlier? Could we have found her earlier?" he said.

The only person of interest ever named in the case is Billie Dunn's ex-boyfriend, Shawn Adkins. Attempts to reach out to Adkins and his lawyer have been unsuccessful. Young said he doesn't know where Adkins is.

"It's been several months, if not more, since Billie has had any contact with him," he said.

He kept mum on whether Billie was in Austin or Colorado City. Dunn moved to Austin less than a year after Hailey's disappearance.

"She's not in Colorado City, and I don't expect her to be back in the area until the remains are released and the memorial service is planned and it's time for that," he told NewsWest 9.

But Young did discuss how Billie is coping. He said she's just like any other mother who is experiencing the loss of her child.

"Certainly there is some anger in the result but really sadness and grief. She truly believed in her heart of hearts that her baby was coming home someday," he said.

As far as a memorial service for the slain teen, Young said the family is planning something that will celebrate both the life of Hailey and those who worked so hard to find her.
NewsWest 9 will follow any updates on the investigation and the memorial service.

Thank God the Texas Rangers are involved....They will get this shit tucked away even if it takes them 20 years.

Keep hoping for some breaking news and arrests, but it's not happened yet.

-Yesterday, there was a memorial at a church near Hailey's home in Colorado City - attended by classmates, neighbors and searchers.

-Billie Dunn announced last week that a public memorial will be held on May 19th.

-Haven't seen anything indicating that LE has released the remains to Billie Dunn yet.

-Haven't seen any direct comments from Hailey's father, Clint Dunn, since Hailey's remains were discovered two months ago.

-Billie Dunn and her lawyer continue to claim that Billie hasn't been questioned by LE since Hailey's remains were found, nor have they shared status of their investigation, nor have they released Hailey's remains to Billie. This, to me, is very telling.

-Media continues to report that requests for comments from POI and Billie's ex-boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, are being denied. He's not talking to the press, nor is his lawyer (that I've seen). Whether or not he's talking to LE is something I'd really like to know.

-The man who discovered Hailey's remains, Curtis Lloyd, may or may not be entitled to an FBI reward. A spokesperson for the FBI says it's confidential. The reward was $15k.

-KTXS interviewed Mr. Lloyd recently and he confirmed that along with a femur and a tooth, he also found blue sweat pants when he came upon Hailey's remains (she was last reported wearing blue sweat pants).

-FBI is soliciting tips as part of their investigation into Hailey's death.
