Children Who Kill
I was just playing Yatzee with them last night. And they do not play video games, they ride their bikes up and down the street until its dark if they finish their homework in time. They currently have chores that they do not get paid for and are in bed by 9am. I will not cripple them with an easy life. We eat together every night.
Watch, someday they will probably shoot me between the lookers. hah

They're naming the kid as Philip Chism, 14 year old student. Story alleges he beat her to death. How soon before we find out he plays GTA like a fiend?

Thanks for the update, Donovan.

The judge having lifted the seal on his identity leads me to believe that Chism might be charged as an adult. His arraignment was in juvenile court today and he's being held there without bond, for now.

Haven't seen anything regarding a possible motive yet.

HOTD Edit/Correction: Chism's arraignment was moved from juvenile to adult court before the hearing, where he pleaded "not guilty".

Just so you all know, this comes from the Daily Mail & they contradict themselves regarding cause of death -

A Massachusetts teenager charged with murdering a teacher slashed her to death with a box cutter, disposed of her body then went to see a Woody Allen film, it has been revealed.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Philip Chism, 14, dragging a recycling bin with 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer's body through the halls of Danvers High School Tuesday night then dumping her remains in the woods near campus.

WCVB-TV reports that after the gruesome killing Chism walked to the nearest movie theater and watched 'Blue Jasmine,' a movie about a middle-aged woman's mental breakdown.

Ritzer's a beloved math teacher at Danvers High was reported missing after she didn't come home after classes ended Tuesday night. When police went to her school, they found a second-floor bathroom covered in her blood.

The teacher's students flooded social media with an outpouring of grief over the murder, describing her as dedicated and bright.

Chism appeared in court Wednesday afternoon, where he was charged as an adult and formally accused of beating Ritzer to death Tuesday night.

The boy's attorney requested a mental health evaluation for the teen and suggested she would argue that he was not mentally competent to stand trial. He was held without bail.

Jesus Christ, if she was slashed to death with a box cutter, what a slow painful way to die. Beaten to death isn't any better. There should be some clarification on the manner of death soon.

Thanks for the new info Duchess. Glad to read Chism is being charged as an adult; this guy shouldn't be released automatically at age 25 like he would be if he were to be charged as a juvenile, whether he's mentally ill or just a blood-thirsty POS.

Hard to beat a murder a charge when it's on tape. Glad LE has the surveillance footage as evidence.

12 Year Old Killer of Michael Landsberry Identified

After a classmate gave an interview to a Spanish tv station and identified the 12 year old shooter, LE released the name of the student who fatally shot teacher Michael Landsberry (then himself) to the media and the public.

He was Jose Reyes and is described consistently as a kid who had a few friends, was kinda shy but usually smiling, was sometimes argumentative, didn't complain about being bullied, and liked to ride his bike and play video games like Call of Duty.

Motive still being investigated.

There's some talk that an anti-bully documentary, "Bully", which depicts a kid bringing a gun to school to shoot his tormentors and was reportedly shown to the students at Reyes's Sparks middle school, may have incited him - but that's just conjecture at this point.

14-Year-Old Girl Stabs 11-Year-Old Half Sister to Death - Illinois

This sounds a whole lot like what went down when Leila Fowler was murdered in California last year by her 12-year-old brother (allegedly). Sad.

Snips:

Police found the 11-year-old girl unconscious and in need of medical attention in an upstairs bedroom of the dwelling Tuesday morning. She later died.

Because the older sister, who called police, initially told officers an intruder was to blame for the attack, authorities briefly placed three schools on lockdown.

Assistant State’s Attorney Claudia Kasten said that the 14-year old girl , who faces charges as a juvenile for first-degree murder, told police that her younger sister Dora was not appreciative of all the chores she did to keep the house running, the Chicago Tribune reports. She told police that Dora had hit her, and took for granted that she had cooked dinner six times the previous week.

The fight between the sisters, who neighbors said were close, erupted Tuesday morning, when the older girl allegedly took a kitchen knife and went into her sister’s room to stab her. Katsen said the girl told police she stabbed Dora for being ungrateful for all she had done.

After the murder, the teen allegedly showered and then called her mother to say that she had seen an intruder stabbing her sister. When police arrived, the 14-year-old’s hair was wet and there was blood on her arms. Police found Dora had been stabbed 40 times.

State Attorneys are deciding whether to charge the 14-year-old as an adult.

Yeah, now it's going to be difficult to say that the sister wasn't mentally impaired and didn't know better since she cleaned up. 40 times is a lot of stabbing.

That's true, she planned the attack and planned to lie about it, then tried to create a fantom suspect. She knew it was wrong, no doubt about it.

Another sad story of a minor killing a sibling over something petty. This time it was a 14 year-old boy who fatally shot his 17 year-old sister in the family home in Oakland, CA. Why? Because she used bleach on his clothes when she did his laundry.

After Mario Toliver, Jr. killed his sister Justice, the mother of a 2 year-old, he fled. The killing took place on January 25th. Family members pleaded publicly for him to turn himself in. He finally did yesterday.
Their father, Mario Toliver, Sr., is obviously beside himself. He blames the devil.

"I’ve been there for them ever since they came out of the womb… I don’t understand, it’s just the streets. The devil is working all the time, devil’s working all the time.”

I haven't seen any indication yet as to the charges or whether prosecutors are considering charging him as an adult. 14 years-old is the minimum for bumping a minor from juvenile to adult court in California.

RIP Justice Toliver.

Killing your own sister over some fucking laundry?!

Has the world gone mental?

You have to stop this easy access to firearms at some point surely?

It's insane, that's for sure. But, plenty of kids kill without firearms.

Isaiah Fowler, 12, allegedly stabbed his 8-year-old sister 21 times last year - causing her death.

Skylor Altiano, 16, allegedly beat his 11-year-old brother to death with a rock last year.

Today, I read about Amber Hellesten, 15. She is being charged as an adult for the fatal stabbing of a 14-year-old neighbor boy with whom she was arguing. 15 is the minimum age for a juvenile in Philadelphia to be kicked up to adult court.

Gruesome Murders in Idaho

Eldon Samuel III, 14 --Double Murder Suspect

On March 24th, Eldon Samuel III allegedly took a .45 caliber pistol hidden underneath a couch at their home in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, and shot his father, Eldon Gail Samuel Jr., 46, in the stomach. Samuel III told investigators his dad often “beat him,” and that he thought his father -- who had been taking medication while "talking about zombies" -- was coming after him.

According to a police report, the suspect said his father then crawled to another room where his younger brother, Jonathan Samuel, 13, was hiding under a bed. Samuel III told authorities he then shot his father three more times: twice in the cheek and once in the “brain".

Samuel III told authorities he then went after his younger brother, whom he “hated.” He said he shot the younger boy four times after he refused to get out from under the bed, then took a “large knife" and stabbed him several times. When he noticed the younger boy was still alive, the suspect then attacked him with a machete approximately 30 times.

Samuel III called police and confessed to the crimes on Monday, just after 9 p.m., court documents say. Police arrived at the residence and found the suspect standing outside, covered in blood.

“Eldon did not show any remorse in reference to killing his brother," Coeur D’Alene police officers stated in court documents.

The double-murder has shocked the northern Idaho city. "This incident is the first of its kind in our 68-year history," Jeff Conroy, executive director of St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho, the housing development where the family was living, told CDA Press. "We are surprised to learn of the weapons that were used in this crime, as they are prohibited in all our programs."

Samuel III was charged, as an adult, with two counts of first-degree murder on Tuesday and is currently being held on $1 million bail. Hearings are expected to take place in the next two weeks.

How many times his actions spoke of what he was capable of doing and no action was taken to prevent a double homicide. It's frightening to think that these people walk among us just waiting to go off.

The family once had a pet chicken, but the suspect shot it several times with a BB gun. He also once stabbed a pencil through Jonathan's jaw, (his younger brother) Anthony Samuel told The Spokesman-Review.
"We all knew he was not exactly right, but we'd never think that this would happen," Anthony Samuel added. "He was never sane," the killer teen's stepbrother, Anthony Samuel, told The Spokesman-Review.

It's sad and maddening to me.

What should be done with kids like this when they're clearly "off"?

They can go to juvenile incarceration if they commit crimes, but only for so long, and some people feel that being around other delinquents only worsens their problems.

They can't be institutionalized if a psychiatrist doesn't deem them mentally ill, dangerous, and not a candidate for outpatient treatment.

And, even when they do get treatment, it sometimes doesn't stop them from killing. Adam Lanza had several outpatient psychiatric counselors and ongoing treatment; still, reportedly none of the professionals nor his family foresaw him becoming violent -- much less committing mass murder of little children, his mother, and then suicide.

I think sometimes it's impossible to know what people will do until they do it. In any case, adults providing these troubled unpredictable kids access to guns and other weapons in the home makes the adults insane (in a non-clinical sense), IMO. Denying such access might not stop all of the murders committed by troubled minors, but it would certainly stave off some of the emotionally-driven crimes of opportunity. More state psychiatric hospital beds and easier precautionary admittance might help, too.

I wonder how many of the families of these kids brushed off major red flags outta denial? I don't know, but suspect, that parental denial often enables and empowers these individuals and contributes to the societal problem.
