Kid, some people think they have to obey every command that a police officer utters, these are the ones who will be first in line to turn in their weapons and surrender their gold and silver when the government tells them to.
Lawful orders given by a police officer that do not violate individual civil rights and are within the officers powers should be obeyed, however orders that run amiss of that criteria and forceful action taken by a police officer to try to enforce an unlawful rights violating order by police often cost the city,county,state lots of money in lawsuits each and every year.
The courts are full of civil rights lawsuits that are filed against police in this country, not all of them are frivolous.
This officer over reacted, how would he have handled several people watching from their yards? would he have arrested them all? or just one of them, or just the ones who said screw you, this is my property you have no PC to even talk to me.

My view on this is that I would have obeyed the command, and fought the battle a different way. She could have made her point, and raised just a big of stink by other means..and could have avoided the arrest. Going to jail, the hassle with the bond..it all sucks..been there, done that (there ya go Puddly, you can now add jailbird to your list).
I would tend to obey what a cop tells/asks me to do, unless it put me in danger. It's just not worth the hassle in order to prove a point.
That doesnt change the fact that IMO, this cop defo was out of line.

Going to jail and being arrested is what will form the basis of the lawsuit, without that she would just be able to bitch about it.
A voice crying in the wilderness. having lost her freedom and being unlawfully arrested carries a few hundred thousand dollars worth of weight.
Like I said early on, this will get no traction, and she and the officer will be back to normal in a few weeks.

i don't care to second-guess other cops unless they have done something illegal. i know how their shoes feel. i wasn't there and i don't know how the Officer felt about what was going on or whether he felt threatened.
all i know is your average accountants, teachers, chefs and chicken-pluckers don't have people in their faces filming them, challenging them and critiquing them.

The officer more than likely was filming the traffic stop himself.
That is just something that LEO's might as well get used to now days, someone is always watching.
we only had 2 cars that were equiped with video and audio I didn't drive either of them.
today I think most if not all of the cars are equiped with that stuff.
the days of being able to do your job without public scrutiny are pretty much over.
I would not have arrested the woman in her own yard for standing there with a camera," once I found out it was a camera", she would have reverted to just being a nosey bitch in her yard with a camera and I would have done my job with the traffic stop arrested the driver or whatever was going to happen there and went on my way.
Does it matter how many people film you if what your doing is right?
