If it is inflamed you may also need naproxen, powerful anti-inflammatory that works similar to ibuprofen. You can take them at the same time as the opiates. If you have forgotten to ask your doctor you can ring the surgery and get the doctor to write a prescription for you.

I've never really had a bad one but for minor ones, I've heard (and done this on my kids) that you just trim a V into the center of the nail. I guess it's supposed to let the sides retract or something?

yes sally there are side effects with any medication of course. Pain relief is important part of the healing process. The doctor is not going to prescribe these meds if they are not right for him. But that procedure I think, would be extremely painful and would need some intervention. It was something he could flag with his doctor. Many people don't think of these things.

I think he has his ingrown toenail under control. Now what to do about my yeast infection is a different story, I think a greek yogurt and a handful of xanax will do the trick.
