Peyton Manning is a class act. 21
(03-01-2012, 03:02 PM)Duchess Wrote: [ -> ][size=medium][i]Holy moly! The Steelers released Hines Ward.

Really?! what the hell for?

I am less incredulous more brimming with anger. I know he is getting on a bit in age but hes still the best wide receiver the Steelers have had for a long time.

The Steelers organization actually didn't give a reason. There was a lot of back patting going on & many niceties but their reasoning was vague, to say the least. Apparently he spent a great deal of time on the bench last season in favor of letting a couple of the younger guys play.

He even went so far as to state he'd take a pay cut in order to remain a Steeler. Personally, I don't think his career is over, I think he's still got some great football in him and I would consider any team that picked him up to be lucky in getting him but hey, what the hell do I know.

Yes he is...it's sad to see him go.

I watched his press conference. I got a lump in my throat when he got choked up. 84

I haven't even seen it yet. I'll catch it on Nightline. I heard both of them were getting emotional.

I can't say I blame them for not keeping him on from a $$$ standpoint...and that's what it boils down to anyway. He's had 3 neck surgerys and rumors of a 4th. I don't see him lasting more than 2 seasons, if that.

I would love to see him come back to Indy someday and coach.
I'll bet Peyton Manning never thought he'd retire with fewer Super Bowl rings than his little bro'.

That's the cold-hard truth, though, for Peyton. A classy, precision artist.

I've never liked the Colts, or been a huge fan of Peyton, but he certainly worked hard for what he's earned. It's hard to believe a club that won at least 12 regular season games for 11 seasons in a row only ended up with one Lombardi Trophy. They're kind of like the Atlanta Braves of the National League.

Peyton will hook up with somebody, and get paid handsomely, but I don't believe he'll ever get to another SB, let alone win one.

I just hope the neck situation isn't something that could permanently disable him if he reinjures it.

Hines Ward is old. It happens to everybody. Anybody can get released.

Now, would Steeler fans like to see him retire as a Steeler? Sure.

Unfortunately, this is the business side of the NFL.

No shit, Sherlock. You think I'm unaware of how it works in the NFL? Think again.

Then quit droning on and on about how you don't understand why players get released, for fucks sake!

Would you care to quote where I stated I didn't understand it?

If I cared enough about your opinion on what I know or don't know I'd give you a little background that would make your mouth slam shut like a steel trap.

Here it is in print. ^^^^^^^^^^

I will give you this. For a woman, at least you've picked your team based on location, and not on the color of the uniform they wear.

+1 for you!!

You must be happy when I show up here. I seem to get you fired up pretty quickly.

At least you can get your game on with me in the house, instead of posting inane nonsense when I'm away.

User, the 49'ers signed Randy Moss. Hahahahaha! *gasps* Hahahahaha! Hahahaha!

He's talented, a wonderful, productive player, a threat, but the guy is a drama hag and wouldn't know humble if it ripped his face off.
User, he's also OLD, and he can ruin a team's chemistry quicker than you can say 'Batshit'.

It's too bad. Randy actually is very personable. I used to play pick-up hoops with him in the early '00's. He was nice to kids and fairly humble in the gym.

Yeah, the 'Superfreak' could be something special, but, since he only 'plays when he wants to play', I'm betting he'll be an insignificant signing.
I won't bore all of you with my entire bracket for the NCAA tourney, I'll just post my Final Four:

South Regional: Kentucky
West Regional: Missouri

East Regional: Ohio State
Midwest Regional: North Carolina

I have Missouri upsetting Kentucky and meeting North Carolina in the National Championship game.

Missouri wins 2012 Men's National Basketball Championship.
