Detectives investigating the disappearance of Tia Sharp have made two further arrests.

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that Tia's grandmother, 46-year-old Christine Sharp, was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday!! she has been taken to a south London police station where she remains in custody.

Paul Meehan, a 39-year-old neighbour of Christine Sharp, was also arrested yesterday, on suspicion of assisting an offender. He also remains in custody in a south London police station.

three searches had already been carried out and detectives are investigating whether the 12-year-old’s body was moved between the roof spaces of neighbouring properties.

"Step-granddad" is guilty of something - if he didn't kill her himself, he was at least molesting her. The grandma works overnights, leaving Tia alone with him. Either he killed Tia and Grandma helped him cover it up, or Grandma came home, witnessed or somehow found out Hazell had had some kind of sexual contact with Tia, and Grandma killed Tia out of 'jealousy'.

Just my theory, of course.

From what I heard they are not married either, just living together.
I believe sniffer dogs were brought in earlier too, so even if she was moved, wouldn't the dogs still have been able to tell a deceased body had been in the house?

I had a quick look at her fb, a lot of cussing and talk about how she hates jesus lovers mainly. Not easy to copy and paste from fb on my phone though and count see any other pictures except for that profile pic of Tia.

Tia Sharp's body was found wrapped in a black bed-sheet in a bag and she may have been 'smothered', it emerged today as her step-grandfather appeared at court charged with her murder.

Stuart Hazell, 37, the partner of the 12-year-old schoolgirl's grandmother, appeared before magistrates via video-link and was later remanded in custody.

An 18-year-old accused of using a sickle to beat his five-year-old niece to death has appeared in court wearing a full-body 'suicide smock'.

Matthew Kaleb Pierson has been charged with murder after he confessed to killing Jada Beth Williams with the farming blade and stuffing her bloodied corpse in a plastic container in the family garage.

A preliminary autopsy found that the girl died of blunt force injury to the head, face and neck at the home in Jackson Township, Ohio.
The child's body was found on Sunday, dumped in a plastic container at the home where she lived with the accused and her grandmother.

The grandmother called 911 on Sunday afternoon, saying the girl was dead and covered in blood.

Pierson told authorities he killed his niece on Saturday at the house and described a weapon used to strike her, Detective Randy Sanders said in an affidavit filed in Hillsboro Municipal Court.

A motive for the murder was not clear. A judge set bail at $500,000 during Pierson's arraignment on Tuesday.

Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins declined to comment but said more charges were possible. A preliminary hearing has been set for August 23.

Other people may be charged in connection with the girl's murder, said Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward at a press conference on Monday.

According to the Fayette Advocate, a search warrant revealed several people were at the home on Saturday night and were aware that something might have happened to the little girl.

“The preliminary findings also do not reveal signs of sexual assault, however additional forensic testing is still being completed as part of the ongoing investigation,” said Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward.

In the photo, it’s evident that the toddler was found laying in a large amount blood, based on the stains left on the concrete floor.

(CNN) -- Two Louisiana sheriff's deputies died and two others were wounded early Thursday in what a state police official described as an ambush.

The assailant or assailants were still on the loose, Louisiana State Police Sgt. Ann Dusang said. State police SWAT teams, helicopters and troopers were involved in the search, she said.

The deputies from St. John the Baptist Parish, whose identities have not yet been released, were on traffic duty at the Bayou Steel Plant in LaPlace when the shootings happened in the parking lot around 5 a.m. (6 a.m. ET), Dusang said.

Exactly what happened remains unclear, but "they were ambushed," Dusang said.

The two wounded officers have been hospitalized, she added.

A Spanaway man was arrested Wednesday after his wife and daughter were found shot dead in their home and he said he killed them.

The 40-year-old suspect, identified in jail records as Dean Russell Holmes, turned himself in to the Pierce County Jail.

Deputies said Holmes drove to the jail at 4:45 a.m. and told an officer he shot and killed his wife, Kristi, 41 and daughter, Violet, 11.

The claim led police to Holmes' house, located on the 15000 block of 20^th Avenue Court East, where a deputy peered through a window and found Kristi and Violet in the bed of the master bedroom.

Both victims died of gunshot wounds.

Holmes told investigators he was going through marital and financial problems. Detectives said Holmes is cooperating with their investigation.

Detectives determined Holmes had been hiding financial problems from his wife, including lying about a home they were supposed to be moving in to.

Holmes told police he shot his wife in her sleep early Tuesday morning, then woke their daughter and a friend of daughter who had slept over that night. The suspect took both of the children in his car, dropped off the friend at her home in Auburn, then drove around for some time with his daughter in the car.

Holmes said he pulled over on the side of the road in Spanaway and shot his daughter as she sat inside the car. The suspect then drove to a fast food restaurant in Spanaway, purchased a meal for himself, then went home and placed his daughter's body in bed with his wife's.

After several hours of trying to clean the house and his car, Holmes decided to turn himself in to police.

Neighbors were disturbed when they woke to crime tape on their street and learned what happened to the family they all knew.

"Everybody went to their barbecues, everybody hung out," said Walter Diaz, who lives nearby. "They walked the neighborhood in the afternoons and the mornings too."

Sandy Fearn said Holmes, who works as a house painter, chatted with her a few days ago.

"He saw me and [gave] a big 'ole wave and a smile and started talking," said Fearn.

Neighbor Nancy Cather said she won't be able to look at the house the same again.

"To know that pain happened there, extreme pain," she said.

Deputies said a second child, who also lives in the family home, is not in danger.

Holmes remains in jail on two counts of first degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office shot and killed a man they say sexually battered and impregnated an 11-year-old girl.

The man, 42-year-old Gregory Johns, was killed at the Trail's End Motel and Apartments at 11500 Gulf Boulevard in Treasure Island around 5 a.m. Saturday.

According to Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, Johns has a lengthy violent criminal history and sexually battered the girl three times.

Gualtieri said Johns lived with the girl and her mother and, on August 27 at Morton Plant Meese Countryside Hospital, they learned she was pregnant.

Upon learning the news, Johns left the hospital to go to his car and was not seen again.

Deputies received a tip from St. Petersburg Police that Johns had used a knife to rob a couple at Vinoy Park later that week.

St. Petersburg Police said, on or around the 29^th, he broke into a 78-year-old woman's home, tied her up and held her for 12 hours.

On that same day, Johns called the 11-year-old girl's mother, apologized for his actions and said officers were going to have to kill him before he returned to jail.

Gualtieri said Johns was in jail ten times since 1987 on aggravated assault, armed robbery, burglary and drug charges.

Saturday morning, law enforcement received a tip that Johns was located in a beach motel somewhere between the Madeira Beach Causeway and Central Avenue.

Dozens of officers combed the area, planning on making the Trail's End their last stop.

When deputies learned Johns was at the hotel, they isolated it and heard noises from inside.

Gualtieri said when Johns would not come out, officers went in the room.

He said Johns then burst out of the bathroom with a knife, saying he was going to kill them.

Deputies Eric Turner and Claudio Dimundo each fired approximately five rounds, killing Johns.

The deputies will go on paid administrative leave as they investigation continues.

Deputies say the Johns first raped the girl in June, asking her to come to his bedroom while her mother was at work.

Johns was five feet-nine inches tall and weighed 280 pounds.

being a Fla. case i followed it for a while. but it's been over 6 years now. i do not believe she drove her car to her apt. that night.
i think james hataway is good for it. he's currently serving life for another case.

and like many missing in Fla. i believe alligators were used to facilitate disposal of a body. or at least bodies of water and /or canals.

Griselda Blanco, the drug kingpin known for her blood-soaked style of street vengeance during Miami’s “cocaine cowboys” era of the ’70s and ’80s, was shot to death in Medellin by a motorcycle-riding assassin Monday.
Blanco, 69, spent nearly two decades behind bars in the United States for drug trafficking and three murders, including the 1982 slaying of a 2-year-old boy in Miami.

Called the “Godmother of Cocaine,” she was deported in 2004 to Colombia, where she maintained a low profile.

Colombia’s national police confirmed her slaying late Monday. According to Colombian press reports, two gunmen on motorcycles pulled up to Blanco as she walked out of a butcher shop in Medellin, her hometown. One man pumped two bullets into her head, according to El Colombiano newspaper. It was the sort of death many had predicted for her: Blanco has been credited with inventing the idea of the “motorcycle assassin” who rode by victims and sprayed them with bullets.

“It’s surprising to all of us that she had not been killed sooner because she made a lot of enemies,” former Miami homicide detective Nelson Andreu, who investigated her, said late Monday. “When you kill so many and hurt so many people like she did, it’s only a matter of time before they find you and try to even the score.”

The former kingpin was with a pregnant daughter-in-law, who was uninjured. According to El Colombiano, the woman told police that Blanco was no longer involved in organized crime and that she was hoping to live off the sales of several properties she owned.

Blanco came to epitomize the “cocaine cowboy” bloodshed of the 1980s, when rival drug dealers brazenly ambushed rivals in public.

Raised in the slums of Medellin, she began her criminal career as a pickpocket, eventually commanding an empire that reportedly shipped 3,400 pounds of cocaine per month, by boat and plane. She was considered a Colombian pioneer in drug smuggling to the United States, a precursor to the larger cartels that dominated in the 1980s. She even had a Medellin lingerie shop custom design bras and girdles with special pockets to hold cocaine, a tool used by her drug mules flying to Miami.

She ran the organization with her three of her four sons, two of whom were later assassinated in Colombia.

Blanco was known for her flamboyant lifestyle — one of her sons was named Michael Corleone, an homage to The Godfather movies. Three of her husbands also died in drug-related violence.

But it was her nasty temper and penchant for unyielding violence that drew the attention of law enforcement and the public.

Investigators linked her to the daytime 1979 submachine gun attack at Dadeland Mall that shocked Miami. Detectives conservatively estimated that she was behind about 40 homicides.

She was only convicted of three murders.

Two of them: Blanco arranged the slayings drug dealers Alfredo and Grizel Lorenzo in their South Miami house, as their three children watched television in another room. They had failed to pay $250,000 for five kilos of cocaine that Blanco had allegedly delivered to them.

She was also convicted of ordering a shooting that resulted in the death of 2-year-old Johnny Castro, shot twice in the head as he drove in a car with his father, Jesus “Chucho” Castro. Blanco was targeting Jesus Castro, a former enforcer for Blanco’s organization.

Detectives learned the intimate details of the hit from Jorge Ayala, the charismatic hitman who later testified against Blanco. He told police that Blanco wanted Castro killed because he kicked her son in the buttocks.

“At first she was real mad ’cause we missed the father,” Ayala told police. “But when she heard we had gotten the son by accident, she said she was glad, that they were even.”

She had been arrested in 1985 in a cocaine trafficking case in New York. Ultimately, she served 13 years in federal custody before she was handed over to Florida authorities.

Blanco seemed destined for Florida’s Death Row — but the prosecution’s murders case was dealt a severe blow.

The reason: Ayala — the case’s chief witness — engaged in phone sex with secretaries from the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. After an investigation, three secretaries were fired and a veteran prosecutor resigned.

Special prosecutors from Orlando took over the case, and Blanco cut a plea deal in 1998.

Blanco was sentenced to three concurrent 20-year sentences, of which she had to serve only about one-third because of guidelines in effect at the time of the murders. Even on her return to Colombia, she was believed to have held onto immense wealth.

“This is classic live-by-the-sword, die-by-the-sword,” Corben said Monday. “Or in this case, live-by-the-motorcycle-assassin, die-by-the-motorcycle assassin.”

(CNN) -- A woman in Turkey is awaiting trial after beheading a man who she says raped her repeatedly for months and is the father of her unborn child. Her lawyer says the woman killed the man to protect her honor.

Nevin Yildirim, a 26-year-old mother of two, lives in a small village in southwestern Turkey. She said the man, Nurettin Gider, began the attacks a few days after her husband left in January for a seasonal job in another town, according to a source close to the case.

Yildirim said Gider threatened her with a gun and said he would kill her children, ages 2 and 6, if she made any noise, according to the source. That was the first of repeated rapes over the next eight months, the source said.

At one point, Yildirim said, Gider sneaked into her house while she was asleep and took pictures of her, the source said. One of the pictures shows her pregnant body. Gider threatened to publish the pictures if she didn't obey him, the source said.

In small villages like hers, honor is held above all else, and women carry the burden of honor for their families. Pictures like those would have been devastating for Yildirim and her family and could have posed a danger.

On August 28, at least five months pregnant by a man who she said continued to rape her, Yildirim said she decided she had had enough. Gider was climbing up the back wall of her house. "I knew he was going to rape me again," she said at her preliminary hearing August 30.

She said she grabbed her father-in-law's rifle that was hanging on the wall and she shot him. He tried to draw his gun and she fired again.

"I chased him," she said. "He fell on the ground. He started cussing. I shot his sexual organ this time. He became quiet. I knew he was dead. I then cut his head off."
