LE has publicly stated their belief that the perps have cleared out of the state or county or whatever.

When was this? The only statement I heard from them since the beginning was today. Please tell me where I can find that statement. Was it before Marshalls went to KC to get BC and MM ?
Did you look in the links page? It was like 2 or 3 days ago.

LC what is your opinion about the perps showing signs of stressors from commiting the crime. Lack of sleep, weight loss, excessive drinking.... Can you give me your professional opinion.

I am not following you. Why would you not tell if you knew?.

I am not following you either????

LOL you just said in your post that if you knew who the DNA belonged to you wouldn't share it with the family. I asked you why would you share it if you knew?

I can not conceive of LE giving info to the family that they had not
acted upon. It just does not make sense to me

Concerned, I think you were the one who had not seen this article referencing the belief of LE that the perps are no longer in the area. You have to read down to see it but it is there. LC has posted this in the thread about links to the case.

From the Holland-Springfield Journal On-line News dated "week of March 1, 2011"

Double homicide wasn't a random robbery
Sheriff's office advises neighbors not to worry

Springfield Township residents fearful that the recent double homicide may mean danger for the neighbors should not worry.
"It wasn't random. It wasn't a robbery. It was professional," Lucas County Sheriff's Sergeant James Schiavone said.

The sergeant gave an update on the murder investigation to the Springfield Township Trustees as part of his monthly sheriff's report at the February 22 meeting.

Lisa Straub, 20, and Johnny S. Clarke, 21, were found executed January 31 in a home on Longacre Lane, where Ms. Straub lived with her parents Jeff and Mary Beth Straub. Ms. Straub and Mr. Clark were found around 4 a.m., by Mr. Clark's family members. The couple had been suffocated with plastic bags over their heads and their hands bound.

Sgt. Schiavone said he believes the drug-related crime was a professional "hit," instigated by actions of the victims. The crime was not a random neighborhood robbery and the sergeant believes the suspects are likely no longer in the area. "Nobody needs to be worried about that," he added.

The sheriff's office is investigating the crime with the assistance of the FBI and the state Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI). More than 100 people have been interviewed during the investigation, he said.

Ms. Straub and Mr. Clarke were discovered after his family had called 9-1-1 several times earlier that evening, concerned about their safety.

Or perhaps because they no longer have a supplier...

i think the Sheriff's comments today pretty much disavowed Sgt. Schiavone's remarks.

The question concerned a comment made regarding LE's belief that the perps were no longer in the area. The sheriff's news release did not address that issue either way. But thanks for your input.

Now I see a version of Schiavone's remarks to trustees in which he is quoted as saying:

"He said that both victims had prior records that included drug-related charges."

http://themirrornewspaper.com/pages/news...lland.html

I don't recall seeing this in the previously published reports of his remarks at that meeting, and I don't recall any drug charges against Lisa being mentioned as being found here on Mock.

Is my recollection correct? I thought she had had one DUI and that was it.

Also noted is that, at the same meeting, he announced his retirement from the Sheriff's staff after 30 years.

I would love to see someone tie duct tape in a knot.

Is that even possible?

I've done it before, at work.

My understanding from the family is that the injuries to the neck were most likely the result of very tight tape around the neck and the thrashing about of the victim while they were putting the tape on.

yes, that's what I've figured all along. Made sense to me

Okay, I'm game. No longer in the area is a bit ambiguous don't you THINK? Nowhere did the Sgt say out of state, out of the friggin country, or out of anywhere but the "area". And who was the Sgt addressing? The Springfield Township Trustees. So shall we take the Sgt's words in context or out? You decide. I decided two or three days ago. Area = Straub's neighborhood.

It's down the page, after the first article. The first article has a color photo included of a group of people. Below that article is the one quoting Schiavone.

Kitty, do you know whether or not that is true?

Not that it would diminish the outrage I feel towards this spokesman and his remarks of slurring-the-victims.

Thank for the link.

"Schiavone said that the murders were not the result of a robbery gone wrong.
“Like I tell everybody, it wasn’t a robbery – not a robbery that’s ever going to occur again. So nobody needs to be worried of that,” he said, adding that he doubted the suspects are still in the area."

The two guys they got in Kansas were found on a Army base.In order to get on a U.S. military base they would have had to show their I.D.s.I'm sure the M.P.s at the gate ran their names and they came up wanted. So the marshals picked them up.I'm sure no LE from Toledo went all the way there just for these two genius's.Just a normal id check did those two in.Probably not smart enough to realize someone on base might actually want to know who they were.

I know of no drug related charges in Lisa's past. I think he is trying to make himself look good on his way out. Sort of like we haven't solved this crime because these kids were just trouble and they got in over their heads. It was a professional hit so that's why we haven't solved it.
