I concur. We waste valuable education time on instructing kids on things they should already know from home: character education, values, manners, social norms and laws, etc. BUT, if the schools don't teach it, and many kids get no proper instruction (I call it home training) at home, where else can they learn it?

Our society has changed. A majority of the latest group of parents are dropping the ball. You only have to ask your daughter about how the other kids behave at school. If home doesn't fix it, school has to.

You will glad to know that many states are implementing Eastern math methods (Singapore Math).

Not true. It's not the school's responsibility to raise the kids with moral values. That's the parents job. I do not want the schools teaching my kid to have an all-encompassing acceptance of everything. I want the schools teaching my kid how to use proper English, solve math problems, and have an understanding of science....with the ultimate goal being that in one of those classes, she'll find something that really sparks her interest in which she can develop into a career choice..and excel at that subject.

There are some things/beliefs in this world that I believe are flat out wrong, and being how my kid, is my kid..it's my decision to raise her accordingly. When she get's older, she's obviously able to make her own decisions, and I in turn, would respect her for making her own choices as an individual as to what she accepts as morally right, or morally wrong.

The thread title seems to indicate that the topic is going into the schools, that the indoctrination of our kids to the gay life style is some how worthy of our tax dollars and our approval.

I simply do not approve of either.

which of our views I wonder is more honest? which is it that will create the pathway to acceptance of homosexuality as a curriculum in our schools and which will be the response that will make it plain that it's really on many levels unacceptable?

If being sophisticated requires a person to accept what they find gross and sickening and allow their kids to be taught things in school that have nothing but a political outcome to show as the end result, then I will stay backwoods.
