Surely you jest, madam?

Are you fucking retarded?

What the fuck does that have to do with the people Saddam gassed? He made the gas himself, btw. Well, his homies did.

That was fucking illogical.

From wiki WMD page:

The United States exported support for Iraq during the Iran–Iraq war over $500 million worth of dual use exports to Iraq that were approved by the Commerce department. Among them were advanced computers, some of which were used in Iraq's nuclear program. The non-profit American Type Culture Collection and the Centers for Disease Control sold or sent biological samples of anthrax, West Nile virus, botulism and mustard gas to Iraq up until 1989, which Iraq claimed it needed for medical research. A number of these materials were used for Iraq's biological weapons research program, while others were used for vaccine development. For example, the Iraqi military settled on the American Type Culture Collection strain 14578 as the exclusive anthrax strain for use as a biological weapon, according to Charles Duelfer.

If they even ARE from Iraq, they were taken in the early 1990s. Bush told us in 2002 WMDs were there.

Never found them, did they?

Are you THAT stupid or just that contrary tonight?

I'm only going to say this once so pay attention.

I was told by my entire government that there were WMD's there and that from a world perspective it appeared that Iraq had regenerated it's nuke program.

Bush was sitting in the oval office and as such he bears the blame, I can deal with that and I'm sure he can deal with it also.

The import of 1/10/08 is that there was new person sitting in the oval office with a super majority congress and yet the war in Iraq and the funding continued like there had been no change and for the next 3 years while the mission was completed with the same plan and the same strategies.

Afghanistan on the other hand was being orchestrated from the oval office, troop enhancements and other logistical plans were being finger worked by the new President.

If Iraq was an illegal war then Afghanistan is also an illegal war.

Yet all we hear is Bush,Iraq, compared to Afghanistan Iraq was a complete success.

By the way Thanks for killing the sharks, those fuckers should never have had cartilage to start with.

Operation Enduring Freedom
Main article: Operation Enduring Freedom

Operation Enduring Freedom is the official name used by the Bush administration for the War in Afghanistan, together with three smaller military actions, under the umbrella of the Global War on Terror. These global operations are intended to seek out and destroy any al-Qaeda fighters or affiliates.

On 20 September 2001, in the wake of the 11 September attacks, George W. Bush delivered an ultimatum to the Taliban government of Afghanistan to turn over Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda leaders operating in the country or face attack.[33] The Taliban demanded evidence of bin Laden's link to the 11 September attacks and, if such evidence warranted a trial, they offered to handle such a trial in an Islamic Court.[42] The US refused to provide any evidence.

Subsequently, in October 2001, US forces (with UK and coalition allies) invaded Afghanistan to oust the Taliban regime. On 7 October 2001, the official invasion began with British and US forces conducting airstrike campaigns over enemy targets. Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan, fell by mid-November. The remaining al-Qaeda and Taliban remnants fell back to the rugged mountains of eastern Afghanistan, mainly Tora Bora. In December, Coalition forces (the US and its allies) fought within that region. It is believed that Osama bin Laden escaped into Pakistan during the battle.[43][44]

In March 2002, the US and other NATO and non-NATO forces launched Operation Anaconda with the goal of destroying any remaining al-Qaeda and Taliban forces in the Shah-i-Kot Valley and Arma Mountains of Afghanistan. The Taliban suffered heavy casualties and evacuated the region.[45]

The Taliban regrouped in western Pakistan and began to unleash an insurgent-style offensive against Coalition forces in late 2002.[46] Throughout southern and eastern Afghanistan, firefights broke out between the surging Taliban and Coalition forces. Coalition forces responded with a series of military offensives and an increase in the amount of troops in Afghanistan. In February 2010, Coalition forces launched Operation Moshtarak in southern Afghanistan along with other military offensives.

Sorry Dick, Bush's war. If you think for a second that Obama could do anything but exert inertia given the climate during the transition, you're mistaken. Obama's not the leader. He MET the leaders shortly after his inauguration and was told what to do.

You know what his alternatives were.

Sorry Ma, but I don't listen to excuses from the most powerful man in the world.

or his from surrogates on his behalf.

If Bush had enough power to lie to congess and they were stupid enough to believe him, then Obama had the same option.

Why are pictures of maimed and killed American soldiers more shocking than pictures of others killed and maimed by war, in your opinion?
Reply

Because any one of them could have been someone I loved/cared about. That's shocking to ME that someone close to me could have been killed or maimed for nothing.

I had no idea you were directly connected with so many soldiers in combat. These same events happen during the course of an everyday domestic existence, too. How many soldiers in harm's way do you know and/or love?

Perspective is everything.

Vietnam US soldiers killed 58,000+

Total US soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan 6000+

60 million people died in world war 2

Estimate of Iraqis killed by Saddam 1 million.

Stalin killed 20 million of his people

I wasn't. This is the first time you have expressed a direct, multiple and personal connection to the "war". What you believed to be a "stupid game" was actually shock [on my part] that you would post graphic pictures of dead and maimed of US soldiers and yet, weren't you against the publishing of killed and violated enemies of the US? And why, for fuck's sake, wouldn't I think your family is patriotic? Whether or not your family has sacrificed or not doesn't prohibit you from saying anything you want. Wave your flag of self-rightousness at someone else. I lost a nephew.

I've had a brother, cousins & uncles there, Tiki and a brand new Marine that my sister in law hopes & prays isn't sent there or some place like it. My family is patriotic & tolerate my opinion of this good for nothing war. My family has sacrificed and that alone bought me license to say any goddamn thing I want. Don't even attempt to play the stupid games with me that you do with some of the others because I won't put up with your crap any more than I'm willing to tolerate shit from anyone else now.

Tiki. hah

I'm never taking LC's word again, dammit!
