Are You Cheap, Merely Thrifty, or Lavishishly Irresponsible with Money?
#1
A prominent couple in our town ...both attractive, great kids, wealthy, fun, etc. the wife told a friend of mine that she can't even buy a lamp without his permission. I bet she hates him.

on other hand I feel sorry for men (or women) who their wife or partner spends $$ like its water...and as hard as the guy works he(or she) cant get security for their future or it is never enough...

We're tight about some stuff so we can be extravagant in others. Although after economic collapse we're not extravagant about anything much any more. Sometimes I worry about being 80 years old and buying purina for tuna and I don't have cats.

In some ways I'm cheap. I can hardly believe how much the cartridges cost for my razor yet I won't carry a handbag that doesn't have a "name" and I wouldn't consider buying a pair of cheap boots or going without the kind of jeans I wear. Being lavishly irresponsible with money is just dumb & I'm not dumb.

I'd eat out of a dumpster before I'd ask a man for money or buy my clothes from a discount dept. store. *shudders*

I am like Duchess in that I like brand name bags, shoes, and clothes but I have clothes from Target that I love too. Plus, I don't wear something twice and then get rid of it. I clip coupons and look for sales. I don't drive an luxery vehicle per se. I am actually getttin a new car and going from the Accord V6 to an Accord EX, 4 cylinder since gas is so expensive in NY. Maybe I won't speed so much either. Also, I hate leather seats in the car. Hot and sticky. LOL I think people get too wrapped up in appearances and try to be like celebrities with the expensive bags and shoes and huge diamonds. People need to learn to live within their means.

I wear solitaires in my ear lobes & around my throat, other than that I don't really care about that type of trinket, I'd rather have a miniature donkey. Jewelry isn't a big deal to me.

I try to be conscious when I buy stuff. Do I really need it? Would I pack it to move it? Do I already have three at home?

If you pay attention, you would be surprised at the amount of stuff you buy you don't really need.

This whole thread could almost be merged with the first world problem thread.

*snicker*

If people can't handle that word there is no way in hell they'll be able to handle Mock as a whole. We don't want people who are easily offended here, the amount of crying that generates drives me to distraction.

The way I see it is my finances are my finances and I don't see any need to justify to any fucker whether I'm as tight as a fishes ass or a spendwhore.

If that bitch wants to buy a lamp, she should leave and do what she wants.

Ramsey is lucky to have you. hah

"Lavisishly" irresponsible is a little harsh but sometimes my husband and I both sort of waste money. I do little things like buy clothes and want to return them and lose the receipt or just never get back to the store. Bugs me. Plus I think we pay we too much for electronic "goodies" (all the stupid data packages, premium channels etc.). Then there's the cabin remodel. THAT one belongs to my husband. I would be much more inclined to furnish it with stuff we bought at CostCo. or at discount furniture stores but my husband is buying all pricey stuff for the damn place. It's seriously going to be nicer than our house. My BIL calls it my husband's opus, I call it our broke-us. Smiley_emoticons_slash

A cabin that he wanted. hah

Seriously, we agreed no exchange of gifts this year. The cabin re-opening is enough.
