That's what the police and SWAT teams are for they ARE trained in how to use firearms in a situation like this civilians aren't. Going to the gun range is no substitute for the training professionals receive.

For every person that's says having more armed civilians around during this incident would have made the situation better I argue that it also could have made the situation worse. Too many gun owners in the US think they are fucking Dirty Harry just like George Zimmerman.

Officials say a man who went on a shooting rampage in Santa Monica, Calif., began the deadly spree by killing his father and brother.

Two officials briefed on the investigation say the killings Friday began as a domestic violence incident.

The violence began when the gunman, dressed in all black and wearing what appeared to be a ballistic jacket and armed with semi-automatic rifle, opened fire on a house where two bodies were found, Santa Monica Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks said.

Sad hearing this story develop driving into L.A.; lotta fear and grief.

Relieved that the gunman was taken out.

The way he was dressed and the number of people that he shot in different locations make me doubtful that this was an entirely spontaneous rage resulting from a domestic violence dispute.

News here still not revealing gunman's identity and just reported there are 9 crime scene investigations in progress related to this incident. Curious to learn more about his background.
