That's correct.
The purpose of the separate but equal parts of government were intended to provide checks and balances. When one party controls the Congress and the Executive Branch, that check and balance can disappear - but should technically be representative of the will of the electorate.
The Republican party will spend their years in the majority trying to undo as much of the Democrats policies as possible. Hopefully they target the policies with the surgeons knife of Doctor Who, taking out the really stupid crap that really ruins things. But they are politicians and usually the will of the people becomes secondary to their own personal agenda. On both sides. The thing that separates them is not ideology its survival and fame.

Yes, I have a real problem answering questions and being direct, and also struggle with contributing to a discussion as I see fit and mixing things up a bit.
But, to be all rigid about it -- in a political sense...
I consider Liberal policy to be that which strives to expand equality for all in the current society, with government having a large and often intrusive/unnecessary role in addressing real or perceived inequalities, many times via legislation.
HotD . . . you know that I always view you as Mock's wallflower!
I now will add: I believe liberals look for the insult when one isn't there.
I appreciated your "rigid" definition . . . articulate, thoughtful and thorough.
I will now add: When asked for the time, liberals will tell you how to build the watch.
That was for the rest of your post!
My turn.
Provocative rigid bitches will tell you what you looked for and saw, whether you looked for it and saw it or not.
Seriously, I didn't see an insult. Just a serve that I was happy to return and a question that I was happy to answer directly.

I figured this belonged here, since it's most likely liberals behind it
Move over Alexander Hamilton. You're getting company on the $10 bill and her name is ...
On Wednesday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said a woman will be featured on a redesigned $10 bill in 2020 -- the 100th anniversary of the Constitution's 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.
A decision on who the woman will be won't be made for several months.
The last woman on U.S. paper currency was Martha Washington, who was on the $1 Silver Certificate between 1891 and 1896.
"We have only made changes to the faces on our currency a few times since bills were first put into circulation, and I'm proud that the new 10 will be the first bill in more than a century to feature the portrait of a woman," Lew said.

Of course Republicans don't have a say....those mean ole' Liberals, they are to blame for everything....
I will have to do a factcheck on this just to be sure, this is the truth and nothing but the truth.

Well, i have plenty to say, but my more old arthritic fingers just don't want to function. To explain what being a Liberal means, would be equivalent to writing a novel. I totally screwed up when I tried to provide a link for you wonderful conservatives to peruse.

Liberals fail to acknowledge that Ronald Reagan was a neoliberal.
Liberals believe conservatism is the same as Republican or GOP.
Liberals believe radical is only on the right.

I do have a mist system and two ceiling fans on my patio.
I'm going to purchase an outdoor portable cooler, too.
Liberals believe in comfort to the extreme!
And it is a bit warm, today.
Keep cool, BH!

Liberals never let a good tragedy go to waste.
We don't need another national conversation about gun control-
It'd be nice if they started discussing how to improve the mental health system in the country.

People that use the term, 'another tragedy' so casually, make me want to puke.
Those 9 people had lives and families. The survivors will live with this the rest of their lives.
Don't even get me started on Newtown. Oh yeah, just another tragedy (but it wasn't my 6 year old gunned down so it doesn't bother me).
You say, let's address mental health care in this country. Really? It's that easy? So do we identify someone by age 10-12 and if we see signs of trouble, we just lock 'em up and throw away the key before they can go on a rampage? Yeah, that'll never happen.
So it really boils down to the amount of guns available for these psychos to use.
However, that'll will never change. Never.
But don't be so flippant about innocents being murdered and then be offended because people want to talk about how we can try to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Spy . . .
I noticed you didn't mention the responsibility of parents to their children.
Who put the gun in this hateful, sonofabitch's hand?
And . . . if racism is learned . . . who schooled this kid?
Hatred and mental illness doesn't manifest only with the possession of a gun.

Jesus Christ, are you really an arrogant prick, or do you just play one on Mock?
You do realize that every time Obama Mentions gun control, gun sales go through the roof, don't you?
Is that what you want MS? More guns out there?
Newtown is a tragedy, but instead of tackling the reason behind the shooting, Fuckin Dems went after the guns. The result?
That's how fucking well the national convo on guns worked the last time, so Hey, let's do it again!
and if you think the gov't is keeping track of all these guns, your nuttier than a fruitcake.
But, let's just keep ignoring mental health in our country. I mean, so what if psychotic people are walking around interacting with your kids, eh? I mean really, who needs protection from that crazy guy holding a knife to your neighbors neck.

You're right, it was family that instilled hateful racist thoughts in his mind and provided him an opportunity to carry out his evil deed by giving him a gun.
But, my point is, it was still a gun that made this possible.
Now, I know that guns aren't going away, but, to the Dont Take My Guns From Me crowd, understand that for those of us without guns, we see that the gun is just as culpable in this as the perpetrator.
We tire of hearing that someone could use a knife or fire or baseball bat.
Not in this case, not in Newtown, etc.
When the Gun Crowd so easily dismisses these acts as just another tragedy, it's offensive.

I don't understand your contention that lack of proper mental health treatment in this country is a topic which is ignored, cannongal.
My observation is opposite, not only at Mock but whenever the topics of crimes committed by apparently mentally unbalanced people and prison overcrowding are discussed.
Mental health policy failures have been discussed at length here and elsewhere in relation to gun control. Part of gun control policy is keeping firearms out of the hands of felons and mentally unstable individuals. Unfortunately, it's often difficult to monitor and enforce the existing restrictions and laws (which is also frequently part of the discussion).
Mental health and gun control discussions are not mutually exclusive when it comes to crime. You can focus on the mental health problem and someone else can focus on the gun-accessibility problem without having to deny that, many times, both are contributors that need to be addressed.
Anyway, I don't think MS or anyone else justifiably lamenting that another asshole used a gun, this time to end the lives of 9 people in a church, implies ignorance in regards to the possible mental health tie-in.
