If someone gets shot down there, I don't think it will be an immigrant, it will probably be one of those crackpot hick militiamen who don't know how to act. I really don't think our military will break the law. There has been some analysis done and our defense officials do not believe there are terrorists or other national security threats within the migrant caravan.
I didn't know our defense officials were clairvoyant.

Why do you think they sit in DC and make their determinations?

And, I trust that our Justice Department and Law Enforcement leaders fully understand the laws of our country. Both Jeff Sessions (Attorney General of the United States), and Kirstjen Nielsen (Director of Homeland Security) have authority over immigration policing agencies, Border Patrol and ICE.
Sessions and Nielsen told the nation just a couple months back that caravan migrants who cross the U.S. border illegally (outside of authorized border ports) will be criminally prosecuted when they introduced the 'zero tolerance' policy.
They both advised migrants to instead do it the right way, the legal way, by applying for asylum at authorized ports of entry (though there was a long queue and some of the ports were closed). Migrants who apply for asylum legally are detained for processing/screening, not sent to criminal facilities for prosecution.
Do you really think the DO's can accurately assess the possible threats of supposedly "thousands" of the migrants heading
this way? Without even seeing them in person or getting to talk to them (certainly not vetting them) if that's not clairvoyance, what is? "Trends", possible terrorists don't have to be a genius to think outside the box! So much for trends!

It hasn't occurred to you that they would have intelligence on the ground, Cars? I don't know how this sort of thing works but it would only stand to reason that they have people down there monitoring the situation.

Yeah, they blew it then with a terrible attack which was the first of its type. 17 years later and we haven’t had another like it.
I’m not saying they always get it right, but no person or group does. And they do a damn good job overall, in my opinion. I don’t take them for granted.
A caravan of migrants isn’t anything new for the U.S. We’ve been through it many times before.
What’s new is the depiction of them as being comparable to 9 / 11 terrorists when they’re not. That amps up the risk factor at the border.
Unlike the 9/ 11 terrorists, the migrants don’t hate the U.S. and what we stand for. They’re desperate to be a part of it.
Anyway, I trust our national security experts much more than Trump’s rhetoric or people who buy into it.
And, I’ve always trusted their assessment that the biggest threat to our safety and security is individual and collective American extremists.

Oh, I'm not comparing the caravan to 9-11. 9-11 happened because the various intelligence agencies weren't communicating and the biggest problem was the White House. Bush was an idiot and his staff were a bunch of war mongers that profited from invading ME countries. However, there was also intel floating around before Pearl Harbor. I'm not a history buff but I'm sure there are more instances as well. And I'd definitely include home grown terrorists in that grouping. Timothy McVeigh?

He said treat the rocks like rifles, he most likely meant bullets and I sure the fuck would fire if some pendejo was throwing rocks at me.

I will tell you this. If they have rejected offers by Mexico despite being obliged to take asylum there and still go to the US regardless AND have been demanded to turn back by the President of USA AND still come and the President mans guards at the border and they still keep coming AND when not given to their "entitlements" of being admitted as they were advised, they decide to then assault the people at the border, I think they put themselves in exactly that situation and have no grounds to complain.

Sorry Rootilda. I wasn't suggesting you were. I was just jumping off your post, same as Love Child's yesterday.
The rhetoric surrounding this latest impending caravan keeps changing by the hour. This most recent caravan doesn't need to be a big fucking problem. It's being made into one for perceived/potential political gain.
Anyway, throwing rocks isn't cool. Throwing rocks also isn't a deed worthy of being shot or killed unless you're living in a third word country.

I don't have a single concern about the people in the caravan, not a one. I'd even be glad to trade some fucked up Americans for them. I have more to fear from other Americans who think like some of you than I do from people looking for a better way of life.

So who in the caravan is looking for a better way of life? Who in the caravan is trying to escape persecution? Who in the caravan is trying to come in with bad intent? What are the numbers? What percentage are mothers and children?

I was talking to one of my customers that is from Venezuela he came here over 15 yrs ago, became a citizen and started an HVAC business. He brought his brother, his Father his wife up here and all of them are now citizens. You can tell he is from Latin America through his accent. He is doing quite well now and last I looked he has bought over 400,000 worth of equipment and metal from me this year. I asked him "Manny" thats his name what he thought of this caravan and he laughed and said that all those people are in that parade because they are not welcome there. He said it was filled with drug dealers addicts, gun runners and everyone that could not make it down there, he went on to say "why do you think they don't care if they leave" I have yet to ask Manny's brother Elvis (yeah he even looks like him) what he thought about it. They are angry that this is happening because they worked hard to get where they are and they are giving everyone from down there a bad name. So say what you will about the poor and down trodden but I have spoken to some people from down there and tend to agree with them.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

Well okay then, a Venezuelan ex-pat is obviously an expert on the subject. Case closed.

It is better to dismiss his opinion out of hand I guess.

The Nigerian army used trump's own words to justify murdering protesters. Again, words matter.

I had mentioned the caravan to Manny and he kinda chuckled, it took some time before I even mentioned it to him but I just had to get an opinion of someone that was closer to these people than you folks and I were. We go by the news and what we hear, he is going by what he knows from the area of central and South America. I was just curious and relayed what I heard. Believe it or not but I tend to believe what he said more than what any media outlet in the States that tend to have a slant either right or left on the matter. A non political question although as a businessman he likes Trump for todays economy as is what most business leaders like also.
All the right needs to do is campaign off the great economy to win, You either like the jobs, profits, wage increases or you don't.
