It made me sad. Really sad because usually I would think I can turn an animal around. Which for the most part I did and he might have improved even more after some more time, but I couldn't take it. My place is to small for him anyway.

This one was fucked up and they knew it. They didn't tell me that they let it scratch and bite and dont' do anything to discipline it at all. I sprayed it with water and got him to stop for the most part. He also was used to someone being at home most of the time, so when I was gone for a long time and would get home he was pissed.

He was calm at times, but he wasn't well taken care of unfortunately.

I suspect they rough-housed with it. Cats don't respond well to that and end up getting kind of mean. The fact that it attacked your feet suggests they kicked it. Poor cat.

Many people shouldn't have pets or children for that matter. Parrots, however, will attack your feet for no reason whatsoever. They are probably one of the more difficult pets to keep because they are moody bastards. They're like a 2 year old with raging autism.

I don't think they should have ever been domesticated and sold as pets because they're birds and need to do what birds do which is fly in the sky.Some species adapted better than others like my little Senegal, but commit yourself to a cockatoo in you're in for trouble.

Now that I think of it Cats are more useful than dogs because they catch bugs and little critters without being trained but for companionship nothing is as loyal as a good dog. They can become some peoples best friend. Not so with a cat. Between walking a dog to take a dump and cleaning a litter box I guess that end of the relationship is the same.

They can become some peoples best friend. Not so with a cat. Between walking a dog to take a dump and cleaning a litter box I guess that end of the relationship is the same.

My friends cat walks with us around the property as we walk the dogs.
I had a cat who would follow me to the bus stop and meet me when I got home off the bus.

Some friends of mine are moving. I just went over to help them with some boxes and I take a look at their cat-and it has gained so much weight and its fur looks different. (dull)
They say, "Oh its been laying around all winter"
But I think something is wrong with it.
Do I tell them to take it to the vet?

I used to live with them and have a ton of pictures of this cat-I compared now to then. WHY DO I HAVE TO BE THE ONE TO NOTICE THESE THINGS?!?!

The cat is indoor outdoor cat-it could be eating birds. It could be fed from someone else also-but I have doubts about that being the cause of weight gain.

Grrrr Why don't people take their cats to the vet. : (

I had a sweet cat whose weight gain I attributed to her hanging out indoors over the winter rather than being in & out as she had always done. I never knew she was sick until the final day, she wouldn't eat or drink and her hind legs wouldn't hold her, when she would get up, she would immediately collapse. It was awful. I was lucky enough that my vet saw her as soon as I called and asked to bring her in. She was diagnosed as diabetic and didn't survive it. Urge your friends to take their cat to the vet. It might be nothing, but it could be life saving.
