Aside from Anne Rice, my favorite supernatural series right now is the Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton. They are a little trite in places, especially the first few books, but it seems that Ms Hamilton gets better with each book. They are very erotic and the Anita Blake character is a little bad-ass who really develops and changes a lot over the course of the novels.

I bought The Da Vinci Code just for the hell of it and it's boring me to tears so far. I think I'm going to put that down and read the Talisman again lol.

I also tried to read The Da Vinci Code. I might try again later... I haven't had the book in a while, but the beginning was horribly boring the first time. lol

I forget which book in the series it was, but it was one of the two books thatI threw across the room in disgust... the other was The Horse Whisperer.

I was going to read those books, but HBO is doing a literal translation of them on the series (which is AMAZING AND ONE OF THE BEST shows on TV). I still might read them since I have heard they are so good.

Oh the books still are WAYYY better I must say! I actually read them before watching pieces of the series. You should read them! Really quick reads too! You can get 1-7 on amazon for 30-ish bucks.

The Anita Blake series? I didn't care for The Horse Whisperer... it was mushy romantic bullshit. I had hoped it was actually going to be more about HORSES. lol

it was the first big book on the topic of the "Templar Knights, true meaning of Jesus, secrets of the Bible, etc" - there have been better ones since then, but it was really the first world wide hit. and there are tons of codes hidden in the book, on the hardcover jackets, etc. it just became a cult thing. no real explanation of it. I actually like Browns OTHER books better to be honest.

I think Brown was too much focused on trying to be all mysterious and plant codes in the book and make it into a cult thing, than really working on the character development and a rich story line. Shame.

yea but it is a worldwide bestseller that had 60.5 million copies in print by May 2006 and that has been translated into 44 languages. 60 MILLION copies. That many copies is unheard of in today's world.

I read a collection of Lovecraft several years ago. There are some real gems in there.
