Biden isn’t anymore responsible for the fucked up’ed ness in California than Trump is/was or would be. We have these things called “states” that are run by local and state politicians that the people elect (and state laws) that have zero to do with the federal government. The news overstates the problem but it is a problem for sure here. Californians apparently passed a law here 8+ years ago that made retail theft under $900 (roughly) a misdemeanor. So yeah, people are walking into stores and grabbing what they want and given they might get a citation at worst (assuming there’s an officer nearby willing to chase them down and cite them), there’s no deterrence. It’s definitely worse in the cities than in the suburbs but it’s stupid. I gather our governor just signed some legislation that brings that dollar amount way down and makes the thefts a felony again. Hard liberals argue that that just leads to mass incarceration yada, yada. I disagree. I’m alllll for cracking down on the crime/theft. But neither candidate for president will fix a state level problem like that (although Trump might fantasize about sending in the national guard and shooting people for pocketing a Snickers bar).

If I was Joe Biden I'd be very concerned about this, if for no other reason than it's a picture that reflects very poorly on the Democratic Party. I'd be making phone calls demanding explanations and accountability. But that's me. All I've seen so far is a belated acknowledgement from Harris that Americans are paying too much for food, which doesn't even begin to address what's really going on in America.

Attacking Trump's person would fly if the economy was healthy. It isn't. It's disintegrating, and it's plain as day that the Democratic elite have zero fucks to give. If Harris loses this will be the reason why. Not because of crazy Trump cultists, because the Democratic Party does not care about ordinary Americans, including poor blacks.
