I did look it up. And included the results in my previous post.  There is no uniform and prescribed manner.  It is, as you say, "willy nilly ".

Nah, when I asked if the public should be shown pix of what a semi automatic does to a body, particularly a kid's body, that's exactly what I meant and using the semi automatic qualifier seems to fit given an AR15 always seems to be the weapon of choice.

Positively absurd! Assault Rifles, says it all! Why the hell does a American “citizen”
need an Assault Rifle as used in fighting in a war to kill as many of the enemy as possible for? It was a sad day for America, when it was allowed for those mass killing weapons to be able to be purchased by the general public! 
Improved gun control laws will not stop the murderous events. May slow it down.

You missed the intended point of the thread entirely!
The absurd point was that an American citizen doesn’t need an Assault Rifle
able to kill masses of people quickly. Comparable similar to like being at war
Killing masses of the enemy. 
No comparison of firearms was intended or mentioned. 
Killing people (or enemy) dead, is dead, regardless of bullet caliber. 

(And yes, a person with any gun can kill, only Assault Rifles makes it quicker!)
