Actually if you check out the dude's story he's a pretty serious musician with Deeeeep influences from some impressive sources. And by most accounts he's been hyperfocused on music since he was a kid. The loser song came from a habit he acquired playing for pennies in bars and tiny clubs. He'd be laying out some great blues for inattentive drunks, so he started singing ridiculous made up lyrics just to see if anybody was listening. He did an interview once where he said "loser" was,meant to be a slam at rap, where lyrics didn't mean shit and you could song any damn thing as long as you had a catchy hook. He had to be talked into releasing it years later, and judging by the reception dude was spot-on.

What's "spot on" is that nobody listens to lyric or even tries to determine meaning from it unless it's poured into the ears of the public via a huge promotional budget. Very few dig below the surface.

Were you initially under the impression that those lyrics weren't farcical and held some deep underlying meaning? I like the song for what it is; crazy lyrics with an original sound and a catchy hook.

I think you posted previously that Kanye was right when he slammed Beck for winning album of the year over Beyonce, and you said that Beck is basically overrated fodder for hipster douchebags, or something like that.

But, Beck always crossed genres and mixed it up. I really like all of his releases, which are very diverse in style. I'm not a hipster, neither was Johnny Cash, to the best of my knowledge.

When I was in the islands a black guy named Jacob let me use his sailboat but he had to come with me. So I told him to bring his ganja and off we went in the sailboat. We even brought some beer and I was wasted after snorkeling and stuff. Later I tipped him 40.00 and everytime I walked passed his shop on the beech he smoked weed with me. It was a great 2 weeks in heaven.

I'm planting my ass on the beach and not moving for 6 days. I have no desire to go on any excursions. I've done everything. Ive wanted to do in other places. Ive read the same things you have and I agree it doesn't sound safe at all. The DR is the second worst place in the WORLD to drive in and crime is high. The resort and beach looks really nice though.

I did get a weeks worth of Xanex from the doc today for the plane ride Duchess. I told her I thought I was going to die the last time I was on a plane. She laughed and wrote me a prescription. I'll probably save it for when my weed withdrawal kicks in about Tuesday. Ha!

Ask the bartender, dish out 20-30 bucks for 3-4 joints and have fun. Just remember they like to mix tobacco with their weed so when they smoke it, it doesn't smell so bad. I smoked right on the beech as they brought me drinks.

That's a good idea. I learned to mix weed with tabacco from the Jamaicans. I haven't done that for a long time but I remember getting a hell of a buzz.
