I would also like to think that I'd become a vigilante sort. Someone fucked with your kid? Hire me. If he killed your kid, I'll kill him. If he abused your kid, I will have him abused to such an extreme that the fucking tree-jumper would beg for death. I would not be kind, I would not be forgiving, I would be the most heinously violent, vengeful, hate-filled, blood-thirsty person on the earth. I would do it until I got actual pleasure from it. Then I'd keep on doing it.

you're right Sin...i would use my grief and pain to motivate me into killing every baby-raper on earth. i would shove sharp sticks into their rectums and pour gasoline into their filthy mouths. before i lit the match.
i became a cop because i wanted to be an avenging angel for victims who could not defend themselves. i picked up a sword and shield because i believed in the righteousness of protecting innocent children. and i was in florida when this happened to Junny and to Jessica, and i couldn't do shit.
One of the biggest similarities among cops and Bikers, who normally don't mix well, is DO NOT FUCK WITH KIDS.
If - God forbid - my life ever did turn into that vigilante justice scene, I have the friends and the ammo to continue on even if I was imprisoned or killed. MC's across the country would take up my goal and there would be no stopping them. Bikers don't always fight fair. Especially when it comes to messing with kids.
I guess we have at least 3 here who agree; the most dangerous place on earth is between a mother and her child.
