Funding public pensions

[quote]If these people have been employed under certain conditions then they are entitled to keep them. I bet these government workers are hardly living the high life.

"A few perks"...heh, that's funny.

I am a government employee, I started in 1993 at $10,800 per year. It has taken me 18 years to FINALLY make my current $28,000 a year. [b]WHERE
do people get the idea that WE make SO much money??? Insurance??? Yes, when I started it was covered at 100% BUT, on ten thousand a year could I have afforded a premium? I pay $150 per month for insurance now and it is only a 7030 policy. I PRAY that I am never hospitalized because I couldn't afford the co-pay. I PAY into my retirement fund, my employer matches that amount JUST LIKE AN EMPLOYER MATCHES AN EMPLOYEES SOCIAL SECURITY.

And since I mentioned Social Security, yes, I worked over 10 years paying into SS and guess what???? I can only draw 13 of my benefit (called a windfall tax) because, I contribute to PERS!!! Where is that fair? That is my damn money, I worked for it AND earned it, WHY should they keep any of my money????

To the gentleman who pays $800 a month in insurance....how much do you make a month in your "private sector" job. I bet my ass it's a lot MORE than what the little Government worker makes! As a matter of fact....maybe this will OPEN your eyes....I clear $56 MORE than your insurance premium every 2 weeks and I'll show you the pay stub to prove it. Your attitude & others like it just plain piss me off!!!!

STFU, when you retire do you have to ask and hope that you can collect your retirement just like you do when you APPLY for social security?

they match your contribution to your retirement? you do know that most 401K's the employer will only match 4% or so right? no matter how much you put in.

Oh well, it must suck to be you and not be happy with what the tax payers GIVE you.

quit and find a private sector job if they sound so appealing.

no one is making you stay on the tax payer tit.

the feds only match up to 5% of your earnings if you are contributing 5% or more yourself. It's no different than other 401K plan. Granted, you can save as much as you want but you won't get anything more from the feds...

don't blame me if the government worker can't get it right about it's own retirement.

She'd shit if she saw what the feds got from me for Social Security Tax.

No employer co-pay.

Probably didn't know the employer matches.

The north part of the state is a shit hole, I live down here in the Sacramento mountains.

It's still strange to me to see prickly pear in the forest but at least I get to enjoy the fruit while I walk through the woods.

I did the self employment stuff for almost 30 years, most people never get the joy of paying an extradinarily large % of their income to the Local/State and Federal Government for the privilege of working for yourself.

I don't make fun of how much people make. That truly sucks. I couldn't live off of that. I feel badly for people who bust their ass and barely scrape by...

Did you miss the phrase government worker?

there is no such thing as a bust ass job when that title is used.

everything is smoke and mirrors , revolving chair execution and redundancy up the ass.

IDK, Dick. I have an exhausting career. I don't dig ditches, but I go home bone-tired most of the time. At least when I worked a more labor-intensive job I had the satisfaction of finishing it and I could let it go in my off hours. Working out of your head for part of a big machine is an exercise in mindfuck sometimes. If I could make my kind of wage waiting tables, I would most definitely do that. You know how it is, though, once you make a certain amount of money, you HAVE to make that amount. Rat race and all that.

and therein lay the rub for me and government employee's or government in general, there is never an end to the bullshit.

it's one fucking form after another, it's the same fucking questions through three different levels, and then you get to do the same shit every week there after to get done what YOU need to get done, the bureaucracy never has an end.
