Some of the young men in that program were fucking scary, they had heavy metal music cranked up to the max in their APC and as they were shooting they had an almost orgasmic look on their faces.

My dad, who was in the paratroop regiment for 11 years, watched the program with me and he was disgusted "Look at those little idiots, no control, no respect".

The scene of the market place being torn to bits by helicopter gunship fire still haunts me, men, women and children literally shot to pieces, after the shooting stops a voice over the radio can be heard saying "yeah, nice".

I watched a program called "Unseen Iraq" which showed scenes of US and British troops doing things you will never see on CNN or the BBC.

I looked for that so I could see it too & it can't be found, by me anyway. There are a plethora of print articles but the only thing I saw regarding viewing it was an old UK tv guide.

It is pretty grim stuff though be warned, like the scene of an Iraqi grandfather holding up the body of his young grand daughter who has a large section of her head missing after a US bombing raid, he is shouting in arabic "curse America!".

I would say most of the troops that were in Iraq at the time were there for the right reasons doing the best they can, but there does appear to have been a sizeable contingent (of mainly younger troops) who truly do not seem to give a fuck if the person they are shooting at is an insurgent or a three year old girl.

The whole thing is like a video game to them.

I used to play those FPS military games online a lot (too much if truth be told) and it is disturbing how intoxicating some of them can be.

Here's a classic. This cop was fired but I don't know if he was CHARGED. This is a good video in that it deals with a situation where the person in custody has done something wrong (drunk driving) and is mouthy. It's important because it addresses the disparity of power and force. She's got to be all of 110 lbs and he's a big guy, in a police station. He's a professional and should know how to handle this situation without engaging in assault and battery. Notice that she is HANDCUFFED when it gets really ugly. If I did that to someone, I'd be in jail.

as a counter to my anger toward le not having proper firearm training: I also know that LE deal with professional bullshitters for a living. everything from a perp's mouth is a hustle and all they do is try to out talk you. everything is typically a lie that they say. The perps often need to be told to "shut the fuck up, stop talking, and stop trying to out talk me" So cops having an attitude is something that is just going to be there. we ask them to deal with the lowest rung on the social ladder all day, so those same citizens will leave us alone. If all I did was deal with scum that were constantly fucking around I would automatically have an attitude everytime I had to deal with a new person. But, it has always been my experience with most cops, that you get what you give. The cop may start out with an attitude assuming that I am going to be just another asshole, but after 30 seconds of interaction everything gets diffused. They realize I'm just a normal person (just like them) I'm not trying to hustle and lie with every breath, and in turn they treat me just as decent. NOTICE I SAID MOST COPS: you still get guys who have a small dick issue, but in reality you get that everywhere, not just cops.
