Let the grieving family sue EVERYONE and be done with this. FFS - it's goddamned Florida - hanging chads and Casey Anthony. Leave the poor Peruvian with an eerily Jewish sounding name alone.

When asked what the unlawful act that Zimmerman was preventing, I wonder what his response was. Are these streets in this 'gated' community public or private streets. If they are private and no one stopped Trayvon at the 'gate' to inquire as to his reason for being there or inform him that he was trespassing, which I don't believe he was, then what crime was being committed or about to be committed that requires someone packing deadly force to escalate to the loss of anothers life? If they are public what right would a person have to impede another from walking there and impose upon them to answer any questions? Police must have probable cause to to this, how is it that a private citizen isn't required to abide by the same?

Police must have probable cause to to this, how is it that a private citizen isn't required to abide by the same? I'm not super-familiar with gated communities, but I did just stay in one in Hawaii in January. There, I had to punch in a code to open the gate and let my car pass through (essentially unmanned). To me, the gate would infer that if you don't live there, you're not welcome (unless you're a residents guest). Why would you assume a gated community would welcome anyone to come in (if they weren't invited)? Technically, he would've been trespassing. To me, this is the biggest piece of information to come out. The fact that his dad's girlfriend did not live in the gated community? He wasn't supposed to be there, and sheds new light on the events. No, he didn't deserve to die, but, could the cops have been called to report him there? Sure. Community watchman was probably doing exactly what he was hired to do by those residents, who quite frankly, were worried about criminals entering their property. If Zimmerman had at least identified himself (or was wearing some sort of uniform) this probabaly never would have escalated to the point it did.

Interesting side note to this story....
From MSNBC: Meanwhile, the Smoking Gun, a website that tracks criminal cases and document filings, reported Monday afternoon that Martin's mother, Sabrina Fulton, filed two applications last week for trademarks on her late son's name. Fulton is seeking marks for the phrases "I Am Trayvon" and "Justice for Trayvon," according to filings with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In both instances, Fulton is seeking the trademarks for use on "Digital materials, namely, CDs and DVDs featuring Trayvon Martin," and other products.

I don't see where the first one applies in that zimmerman did have a dangerous weapon and the second one is a stretch because it may have been Trayvon who felt the need to protect himself from zimmerman taking his life. Zimmerman had the gun and I think he intended to use it if necessary, otherwise he would not be carrying it on his person, and most probably if he didn't have the gun he would never have had the gumption to to what he did. He would have stayed in his house where he could cower in safety or in his truck where he could have the protection of 250 horses to flee back home.

I KNOW it looks like I am trying to “demonize” Trayvon and put the blame on him but really I am not. I have a 17 year old myself so I feel for his family AND the kid. And I do think that this could have been avoided if Zimmerman had just ignored him. However, I am old school, a child of the 70s and in MY neighborhood we knew and looked out for each other. Any adult could ask what the hell you were up to if it looked like you were up to no good and we wouldn’t have dared to punch them in the face. I just think ALL the facts should be weighed before we start putting bounties out on people…..
SALLY: I might believe that had there not been reports that Zimmerman was a weirdo who patrolled the little neighborhood and reported suspicious activity 46 other times. It seems more likely that he was playing cop and harassing the kid. The media keeps reporting that he made those 46 calls in less than one year when in fact it was over the course of almost 8 years. Foreclosures were rampant in the neighborhood and there had been numerous incidents of vandalism and teen parties in the vacant units. Here is Zimmerman's 911 log: Zimmerman 911 log LytoMe: I am still baffled at the fact this guy was not even questioned at the station. Even an armed police office gets questioned at the station when he just shoots his gun on a call, not even hitting someone. This guy doesn’t even get a sit down, what the hell is that about? Another false claim by the media. He WAS taken to the station and questioned. Here is the police report, see bottom of pg 3: Police Report Trayvon apparently did deal drugs to some extent as there were several references to it on his FB and Twitter prior to them being cleaned up by his family. Like this: I’ve also seen reports that Trayvon assaulted a bus driver when he was caught with the marijuana - hence the 10 day suspension. (Although his parents initially said it was for being tardy, then for being in an "unauthorized area".) This from his cousin seems to possibly back that up: His friends seem to think HE was the one doing the ass-kicking, BEFORE the story changes for the media hype that is: Although he was a "model" student, his Twitter made many references towards skipping school, confronations with teachers and getting his "dome" polished at school. You can see it here: Trayvon's Twitter None of this is reason for him to lose his life. My point is that Trayvon was NOT the innocent angel kid the media was initially making him out to be. There is a possibility that he WAS looking for trouble that night, we will probably never know for sure.

"" The first was a noontime "town hall" forum hosted by Roland Martin, a CNN contributor. After that, the parents spoke out forcefully in response to recently reported news that February 26 -- the day of the shooting -- their son wasn't in school because he'd been suspended for 10 days after an empty plastic bag found in his book bag had marijuana residue. Family spokesman Ryan Julison confirmed the suspension. "The only comment that I have right now is that they've killed my son and now they're trying to kill his reputation," Trayvon Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, said at a news conference following that forum."" This was about halfway down the page of this story-but it's also been all over the news last night and this AM. Who the fuck is Sybrina Fulton talking about when she says 'they'? As far as I know, only 1 person has admitted to killing her son, and he damaged his own fucking reqputation when he broke the rules to get suspended in the first place. I don't care whether he was suspended for a bag of pot, being late, or being where he wasn't supposed to be. He obviously has a problem with authority. The Panthers? There was a black guy on the news this AM that called them "race baitors"- Why isn't our "black Prez" denoouncing the violence that the panthers are so obviously encouraging? Why isn't this shit splashed all over the headlines?

new t-shirt anyone? everyone has an agenda. the kid's parents for $$$$ rights to DVDs etc. sharpton and jackson are vultures and buzzards. the Jax. state attny. who was appointed special prosecutor does not need a grand jury to charge on a manslaughter if that's what they decide. she says she does not know where zimmerman is. who the hell blames him for hiding when you have those race-baiting panthers offering a bounty. the kid was no angel, that's true. he was also suspended for graffiti at school. and was found with a dozen pieces of womens' jewelry and a screwdriver in his backpack. no explanation. NO that has no bearing on the night he died. just random stuff i am picking up from sources like the Miami Herald. i have concerns this will explode into race riots, because with some people only an excuse is needed. I THINK ULTIMATELY A JURY NEEDS TO DECIDE THIS MATTER. TO GET TO THE TRUTH BASED ON ALL THE EVIDENCE. JUST NOT A PINELLAS COUNTY JURY. SANFORD, Fla. — An internal investigation is underway on Tuesday at the Sanford Police Department, as police try to figure out who leaked information about George Zimmerman's statement to investigators the night Trayvon Martin was shot and killed. Martin's parents said they are furious about the new developments. They said the people at the police department are trying to tarnish Trayvon's reputation. |
