2 hours ago I want everyone out there to know that I am terribly sorry for what my brother and his wife did to melissa jenkins. My heart goes out to her little boy. i would not want my two children having to go through what ty is now having to go through. I have the same question as everyone of you........WHY ??......We may never know what was running through their minds when they commited this horrible crime. Melissa's family and friends are left with some sort of closure but our family and friends are left with the question of ....WHY ?? like i said !!!

Not everyone is registered on facebook and can't read the comments, so what did she say?

Thank you for the welcome! If ok with Adub I copied it. I am glad to see she is showing support and compassion and hope their family continues this for all involved.

Duchess and LC make me be nice to newbies, enjoy it while it lasts because eventually you won't be new anymore.

Having said that,

I'm still waiting to hear what the point was to this crime, the motive I think will be a little on the creepy side of things if my gut is telling me the truth.

PrueAffidavit

I'm only on page 2. Prue dropped his hat at the scene

...two hours ago saying she got a weird call from a girl and guy who used to plow her driveway. They said their car broke down near her house. She wanted to make sure someone knew what was going on so she called him (Rathburn). After about two hours and not hearing from her he became nervous and he and his roommate drove out toward her house and found her car... She, (Melissa Jenkins) had a business card for the people who called her. She did not know their
names but he wrote down the information from the business card that Jenkins read to him over the phone. The card said Prue’s towing or plowing....

Edited to add: They planned this. They purchased a TracPhone on which to call Melissa:

... the Tracfone was purchased at a Wal-Mart...on 2/28/2012 at 1303 hours.... A video of the cash register this phone was purchased at showed Patricia Prue DOB: 02-04-1979 and Allen Prue DOB: 02-04-1982 purchasing several items to include the Tracfone in question. Patricia Prue paid with a check and provided her Vermont Department of Motor Vehicle personal identification number,
identification.

... it was difficult to keep the child focused but that when asked how he got to where he was he said a car and that it was with “mommy. When asked who else was there he said a boy and later said Michael Jordon. At one point the child said that his “mommy” cried and he pulled on the back of his neck and indicated that the boy or Michael Jordon had donethat to his “mommy”. The child also advised that his ‘mommy” left in a car.

.... LT Sinclair advised that the victim’s feet were tied with white rope, similar to clothes line....

...LT Sinclair showed me photographs of condoms/wrappers found near where the victim was discovered.

...the autopsy revealed that Melissa Jenkins died from strangulation and severe compression and that the death is a homicide. LT Sinclair explained that Melissa had severe bruising of her face, neck, upper and lower torso’s and extremities indicating that she received a severe beating prior to her death. LT Sinclair advised that some of the bruises had unique patterns and went on to describe the patterns as being a checker board pattern and that the squares were approximately 18 inch square. LT Sinclair described another pattern seen on Melissa’s neck as being a 12 inch diameter circular pattern. LT Sinclair also said that it appeared that Melissa had bruises that were rounded and like that of the toe of a shoe....

I wonder what cause the checkerboard pattern bruising.

Definitely sounds premeditated and that she was specifically targeted.

Kip, I also wondered about the checkerboard pattern. The circular pattern on her neck might be a ring.

HM - good thought about the circular pattern. I've since wondered if the checkerboard pattern might be the shoe sole tread pattern.

I can't get over the depravity of these perps, killing purely for their own perverted pleasure. Plus they knew Melissa had a child. The child was in the car for God's sake, and they killed her right in front of the child. Then they left the child. If the child had been there overnight, he might have suffered hypothermia.

There's such a striking difference between the victim and the perps. Melissa thought this guy was weird and felt uncomfortable about him, yet went out of her way to help him anyway.

Agreed 100%.

Also, hindsight is 2020 of course but damn i wish she would have had another adult (rathburn, possibly) go with her to "help" these mother fuckers...especially considering Prue made her uncomfortable in the past.

Add me on board here too. And if these two don't get the death penalty, if I were judge I'd bar any visits and contact of any kind with their mothers - just what they did to that little boy. The judge may not even have that power - I don't know. And I suppose some would say it's also punishing the mothers. Yeah, it is, but too bad.

VT is full of liberal greenies and tree huggers and birkenstock wearers, even worse than NH. at least NH has the death penalty, but they haven't executed anyone since 1939. VT has Ben & Jerry's ice cream though. and cows.
and Killington ski area.

locals like to think of it as God’s Country, the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, where the air is clean, the nights are quiet and the natural beauty is breath-taking.
the tiny town of Waterford is a slice of heaven on Earth with its bountiful gardens of fruits and vegetables, its waters for fishing, its woods for hunting.

Ahhh...A shoe sole/sneaker/tennis shoe. I had not thought of that. It also said there were marks that resembled shoe toes, like somebody would receive when kicked.

While I think perversion was a key motivator. I think revenge and jealousy might have also played a role.

I instantly thought of a meat tenderizer. It has a flat square head with square protusions which would make a "checkerboard" pattern. And they are weighty, Like a hammer.

some reports are saying she was hit with a stun gun.

this obit freaked me out, i am wondering if she was a relation to Josie Langmaid...the infamous 1875 NH murder of a young girl.

there are Langmaids named in her obit.
