JURY DUTY
#21
I have been summoned several times, figured out a pretty good way to get challenged and it worked for years. I would show up in leathers and a tank top with tats showing and they would for some reason not want me on their jury. I would go home change back into the nerd suit and go back to work. Last time I didn't have time to change and had to go in with the nerd suit on and they made me foreman, that sucked. I lose a couple grand to keep some asshole from ripping off Bestbuy, all for $13 a day

They kept you that time because you looked like white bread America. That'll teach ya.

but i have weaseled out of it on state and Fed. levels, they do NOT want cops and prosecution-minded people on juries. even if you say you can keep a fair open mind...your bias is what it is. hardwired.

do not ignore the notices. there will be a bench warrant out for you.

Right, do not ignore.

My hotshot BIL, who thought he was above the law, was going on vac & got his summons for JD during the vac timeframe. He said frigit, and he went on vac for two weeks. When he returned home, there was a bench warrant tacked to his front door. In addition, his name was published in the local newspaper stating a bench warrant was out for him, causing him embarrassment. When all was said & done it cost him $5000 to get the matter resolved. So . . . .

I just got summoned. They always let me off because I tell them I don't have other arrangements for my kids. Unfortunately, I responded online this time and the system just postponed me until August at which time I'm supposed to bring in a doctor's note. It took "caregiving" to mean I have a sick family member or something so I'll have to straighten it out then.

I wouldn't mind serving some time but I would hope for an interesting case.

I have been a registered voter since I was 18 and 26 yrs later have never been called.

I doubt they would want me though. Being a cop's daughter, an ex wife to a cop and an insurance agent doesn't make me the most desirable candidate!~

I've only been called once and had to report to the courthouse. We sat for a while, were asked to leave the room and stand in the hallway for a while, then entered back to find they had reached an agreement and the jury wasn't needed.

I have to admit, I would love to be called for jury duty for the Straub/Clarke case. However after joining Mock and reading for over a year about the case, I would never make it on. I "know" too much Smiley_emoticons_wink

I was only called twice and the last time I went in and sat around in the court house for a while til they started asking all these questions so I said "HANG EM" for every answer. They let me go pretty quick and I've never been called since.
Just shut up. Just shut the fuck up right now.

Bullshit. I'm pretty sure you would have been cited for contempt if you did something like that.

You think she's lying? You think she made that up so she could appear cool to the gang?

Now I have to wonder, too. You completely ruined her online image for me. You think she really had that boyfriend in jail? See, everything is now in question...

I was called twice and checked the box at the bottom of the slip with a note attached that I didn't have a babysitter. I almost wish I would get a notice now, anything to get the fuck out of this house. I haven't gone anywhere in 18 months without a kid attached to me.

I'm not making this up to look cool.

I have yet to be called for jury duty, which pisses me off, because I want to be.
My son was on jury duty when he was 21...WTF?

Jury duty is boring as hell. It takes at least two days to narrow the pool. And you don't know who you will have to sit next to for hours and hours and hours. And people want to talk to you and speculate. And most of the time they do a plea before you even have to sit on the jury. And now black people register to vote (fucking Obama) so you have to listen to their loud ass cell phone conversations.

I think I would vote against the rest of the jury just to piss people off if I already invested all that trouble.

I'm really bothered by the way they won't move out of the way. Seriously. It's a simple courtesy to move to the side when navigating an aisle in a store. The older blacks are always considerate enough to do so but the young slobs don't have a grain of common courtesy. I always move otherwise I'm left plowing into them & I don't want my body touching theirs.

I asked someone why they are so loud & he told me it's because they had to be in order to be heard over the other jungle animals.

YAY! I waited so long for the answer to that eternal question!

Some people are fucking rude IRL. I hate that. In the store, I will say "excuse me" if someone doesn't move. Some people have shame and get it, some don't. I will stare a bitch down. Cracker doesn't care.
