20 years and you're still puking, I'd think you'd be used to it by now.
There must be some perks, like giving a hot chick a penicillin shot. Unless of course you work in a nursing home and then there would be no perks.

I'm in sales, Sally.
Have you see Glen Garry Glen Ross or Boiler Room?
Very much like that every day.

i love my job on the whole. work with great people. i have a couple of difficult ones who are always whining on my staff that i'd like to smack once in awhile...but all in all I've been blessed. stayed home with the kids until youngest was in kindergarten and went back full time. loved staying at home too but not fun if broke.

I'll have 25 years at the same company this Dec. Yup, I like my job. I get new challenges almost every day, and the group of folks I work with are kick-ass for the most part. The owner can be a dick at times, but he lives in Wa, and pops into town once a week, at most.
I work with my hands 90% of the time, and stay pretty active. I simply couldnt imagine sitting at a fucking desk all day. That would drive me nuts. Nor could I imagine being employed at a joint to where I dreaded going to work on a daily basis. Life is too short for that shit.
Generally, I believe that it's your co-workers that can make or break your happiness in a job. I've been rather lucky in that dept.

Such a great scene... back when Alec Baldwin was literally half the man he is now.

And twice the man he was in Miami Blues.

Although there was a dark side to him in Miami Blues that was enjoyable to watch.
(Remember the scene in the airport when he is slightly hassled by the Hare Krishna?)
Alec Baldwin is truly a gifted actor. You may night like his politics or the antics of his brothers, but Alec has great acting chops.

co-workers are huge, i agree...but even bigger is how your boss is. i've had the shittiest in the world...(young nazi-like micro-manager mean bitch chick...in fact recently we saw she married a much younger guy. we wanted to warn the guy to run as fast as he could. poor sucker. she was a piece of work. a car hit and caused $600.00 worth of damage...just a scrape...and she sued the guy for back problems. after meetings she would call us into her office to analyze the self esteem of each person that was in the meeting. she used to tell us what to eat, how to raise our kids...she was such a whacko, it was actually sad.

Malice.
Not a well-reviewed movie, as I recall, but I liked it too and watched it a couple of times way back when.
Nicole Kidman and Bill Pullman (I loved him in Lost Highway) were the couple involved, and Baldwin played the "I am God" doctor. IIRC, Uma Thurman played Nicole Kidman's younger sister.

∧ I did not recall correctly. I was thinking about another movie from back then: Final Analysis. Uma Thurman played Kim Basinger's little sister in that one. Very similar story lines and characers; Richard Gere played the Bill Pullman role, and Eric Roberts played the Alec Baldwin role. I liked both movies.
Btw, sometimes I like my job/work and other times I dislike it immensely.

The dude I directly report to is very cool, no issues. His Boss, the VP..not sure yet, he just started work about a month ago. Above him is the owner..and I would hate to have to interact with him on a daily basis. He's always been very nice to me, however I see how he is to those directly underneath him. Since 2003, we've had 5 VP's. It's very tough dealing directly with the owner.

owner sounds like a major pain in the ass. my current boss is a super strong - cracks the whip - takes no prisoners -woman. but i have worked hard to gain her respect delivering what she wants...we're good. bosses are a trip. i read somewhere that more people leave jobs because of bad bosses than those that leave because they hate their jobs. i've had some fabulous ones and some crummy ones. i'm one too - hope my folks would say i'm ok. some like me more than others. i just try to be the kind of boss i would like to have.

You're a nurse? I don't think I could do that job, I'd be too tempted to stick myself with a shot of demoral and hide in the mop closet.

I found out a year or so ago that one of the senior partners that I worked with for 10 years or so is serving time in some foreigbn jail for sex with underage girls. He was a creepy bastard. Feel badly for the girls but the vision of this formerly very wealthy Ph.D. "soccer dad" behind bars in some filthy foreign prison pleases me no end.
