The extremism on both sides of this issue is vast. I think that the majority does not want to back the financial implications that this issue may have comming from the minority, and that pisses off the minority,that is the Gay community. They just want to be noticed and appreciated like every-one else on the planet. But what are the financial implications? And who would fund it the majority? They want nothing to do with it......that is the crux of the issue. Who will pay for all this equality. Money is the bottom line actually.

Most of the queers I used to hand around with were very campy. It was fun, actually, they were a friggin hoot. Nothing like going to the mall with 'the girls'... it's like being in some kind of movie. It was especially funny since this is such a conservative area.

Very 'out' gay people don't bother me, but some of the looser lifestyles that some of them engage in does disturb me, mostly because they throw caution to the wind and get caught up in drugs and too much casual unprotected sex. So far, I haven't lost any of my friends to AIDS, but I've been lucky.

I do have an in-law with AIDS. He's been very fortunate that the treatments have kept him relatively healthy for over a decade so far.
