Thanks for the heads up on 'Power of Gold'.

Just pulled it up on my IPhone and am currently enjoying.

One more for the road.

You probably know this song, MS. It got a lot of air play back in the day. The writer and singer is one of my very favorites, solo and as a member of some great bands.

Been away, haven't seen you in a while.
How've you been?
Have you changed your style and do you think
That we've grown up differently? Don't seem the same
Seems you've lost your feel for me

So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye.
There ain't no good guys, there ain't no bad guys.
There's only you and me and we just disagree.
Ooo - ooo - ooohoo oh - oh - o-whoa

I'm going back to a place that's far away. How bout you?
Have you got a place to stay? Why should I care?
When I'm just trying to get along We were friends
But now it's the end of our love song...

Baby, if I think about you

I think about love.

Darlin, if I lived without you

I'd live without love.

And if I had, the sun and moon

and they were shinin

I would give you, both night and day,

love satisfyin'.

I like that one too.

Funny, I have a buddy who's a child of the mid/late 70's and it's at the top of his absolute, without question, 'worst song ever' list.

I've not quite figured out why yet, but it's funny to see his reaction if it's playing in our presence.

Great lyrics from the Boss on this one.

I crank it every time I can, and my 6 year old sings along:

...here's your mirror and your ball and jacks

but they're not what I came for

oh I came for so much more

and I know you know that too

and I know you know that's true

I came for you

I came for you

I came for you

I came for you, for you, I came for you

Crawl into my ambulance, your pulse is getting weak

Reveal yourself all to me now, while you've got the strength to speak

Cause they're waiting for you at Bellevue, with their oxygen masks

But I could give it all to you now, if only you could ask

Don't call for your surgeon, even he says it's late

It's not your lungs this time, but your heart holds your fate

Don't give me my money back I wanted more

It's not that nursery mouth I came back for

It's not the way you're stretched out on the floor

I've broken all your windows and I ran through all your doors

And who am I to ask you to fight my wars

You should know that's true

And you should know that too

I came for you

I came for you

I came for you

I came for you, for you, I came for you...

Sometimes I wish I had a brother, especially one as cool as your's seems.

I only saw Dave Mason once, years ago. Was feeling allright, yes allright...

Your friend can blame Jimmy Krueger, the guitarist who co-wrote the song. He's dead.

Maybe your friend doesn't like songs about drifting apart; probably a romantic. Put this one on next time you get together. Simple lyrics, but I think the song has a very sexy chasing vibe.

Well, have you seen that girl in the corner
I'd like to take her out of her chains
'Cause if I have my way with you, baby
I would be changing your life today

She was the same as a hundred ladies
But when my eyes looked at her
I learned that she was keeping a secret fire
And if I got real close, I'd burn

So it looked like I had to move slowly
Like a cat at night in the trees'
Cause I was waiting for her to show me
The way that she liked her love to feel

Your eyes got me dreaming
Your eyes got me blind
Your eyes got me hoping
That I'll be holding you close tonight

From Ebony Eyes by Bob Welch (he's dead too, damn it).

He left home on a winter's day, 1969

And he hoped to find all the love he had lost in that earlier time.

Only so many tears you can cry

To the one that is broken

And now you can say, your love,

Will never die...

Thomas Dolby is an interesting guy... made more money off pioneering ringtone technology for cell phones than for his music. He's also been involved in the TED series of talks by handling their music for them.

Our best friend died a lonely man

In some Palm Springs hotel room

I got the call last Christmas Eve

And they told me the news

I tried all night not to break down and cry

As the tears rolled down my face

I felt so cold and empty

Like a lost soul out of place

I'd "like" this post (if I could).

Interesting fact.

Got out of town on a boat, goin' to the southern islands.

Sailing a reach before a followin' sea.

She was makin' for the trades on the outside,

And the downhill run to Papeete Bay.

Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas.

We got eighty feet of waterline.

Nicely making way.

In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you.

But on a midnight watch I realized, why twice you ran away.

Think about,

Think about how many times I have fallen,

Spirits are using me, larger voices callin'.

What heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten

I have been around the world,

lookin'... lookin' for that woman, girl,

who knows love can endure

And you know it will.

And you know it will.

Now, for ten years we've been on our own and moss grows fat on a Rolling Stone, but...
That's not how it used to be
When the Jester sang for the king and queen in a coat he borrowed from James Dean
In a voice that came from you and me
Oh, and while the King was looking down the Jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned - no verdict was returned
And, while Lenin read a book on Marx the quartet practiced in the park, and...
We sang dirges in the dark the day the music died

We were singing, bye bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good ol' boys were drinking whiskey and rye, singing...
This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die

From American Pie by Don Mclean (an amazing storyteller in all of his works).

Now I think I know what you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will

Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss

She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette
She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget
We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
Until the night

He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away her memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I'll love her till I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby

The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
Until the night

She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,
I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky,
But why, why, why can't it be, can't it be mine?

I love to watch you dream
I love it when you take my hand
