FAVORITE LYRICS?
She's the raw flame

The live wire.

She prays like a Roman with her eyes on fire.

Say what you will about Pink, but you gotta respect her songwriting ability.

What does anyone say about her? She's awesome. Pink and Lady Gaga are two of my most highly respected female pop singers ever. Write their own stuff (which as you pointed out isn't your average bubblegum brianless pop music), outstanding performers live, and aren't afraid to push the envelope. Whatever "they" say about her better be with respect or somebody's gonna get a smack! hah

I think she's great too.

I've just heard enough people try to bash her because of her 'trashiness'.

I personally think she's super talented.

Best contralto in the business.

I don't like Pink, she looks like a pig (I mean literally, like Miss Piggy) and she's always crying about her stupid boyfriend. Lady Gaga is cool.

I don't like Pink because the majority of her music sounds the same. I think I just don't get the message from it because I'm not a pissed off 2030 something female with partner issues.

Been thinkin' about Ramsey a bit after our exchange earlier, and it inspired this 4 song playlist that I've been playing over and over.

.38 Special - Fantasy Girl
Billy Joel - Sometimes A Fantasy
Aldo Nova - Fantasy
Earth, Wind & Fire - Fantasy

Thanks, Rams!

Two dozen other dirty lovers,
Must be a sucker for it,
Cry cry but I don't need my mother.
Just hold my hand while I come to a decision on it
Sooner or later
Your legs give way, you hit the ground
Save it for later
Don't run away and let me down
Sooner or later
You hit the deck, you get found out
Save it for later
Don't run away and let me down
You let me down

Remember that one from The English Beat back in the early 80s, MS?

I'd kinda forgotten about that band til last night; the song's been stuck in my head since then.

I was at the Ace of Spades in Sacramento for a show; kinda surprised me that The English Beat was on the marquee for an upcoming gig.

Good for them though -- keep on rollin'.

Well..........if I have to have that English beat playing in my head, may as well try to push it into yours.

Ramsey's just fine.

My wife didnt stop putting out, she just understands I've got a big appetite.

(she knows that but hasn't really consented to me stepping out yet).

HotD, funny, I love a lot of early 80's UK stuff, but English Beat is not one that I'm real familiar with.

I listened to the song. Reminds me a little of Haircut 100's "Love Plus One" from 1982.

Is there gas in the car?

Yes, there's gas in the car.

I think the people down the hall know who you are.

Get along...

Get along, Kid Charlemagne.

Get along Kid Charlemagne."

So, I had a little time on my hands, and was reflecting back on my favorite decade of music, the 1980's.

Then, I wanted to find out which specific year was my favorite.

1987-1989 are the bottom 3rd, while 84-86 are in the middle.

That leaves 1980-1983. Good stuff in all those years, but for me, I think 1983 wins.

I then decided to make an alphabetical list of my favorites from that year that are in my music library. I fudged a little with Q and Z, and downright omitted X. Oh well.

Here it is:

Allentown- Billy Joel
Burning Down The House- T. Heads
Crumblin' Down- Cougar
Delirious- Prince
Even Now- Bob Seger
Foolin'- Def Leppard
Got Me Under Pressure- ZZ Top
Holiday- Madonna
I Do- J Geils
Just Got Lucky- JoBoxers
Kiss The Bride- Elton John
Love My Way- Psychedelic Furs
Mr. Roboto- Styx
New Year's Day- U2
Overkill- Men At Work
P.Y.T.- Michael Jackson
Cum On Feel The Noise- Quiet Riot
Rock The Casbah- the Clash
Stand Back- Stevie Nicks
Twilight Zone- Golden Earring
Union Of The Snake- Duran Duran
Valerie- Steve Winwood
White Wedding- Billy Idol
You Got Lucky- Tom Petty
Saved By Zero- The Fixx

Jesus Christ, MS.

That's just sad that you devoted such time and effort to compiling that list.

Why all the time on your hands -- did you get kicked outta the gym for ogling women again or something?

Hair, you'd be surprised how quickly I can start- and finish- something, whether it's sex or compiling some stupid list of songs from 1983.

Well, there's something to be said for efficiency, I guess.

If we're talking pop songs, I like these from 1983.

1. 1999 by Prince
2. Dirty Laundry by Don Henley
3. Rock the Casbah by The Clash
4. Steppin' Out by Joe Jackson
5. Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler
