Do you believe in Karma?
#21

No, I don't believe in karma but I do believe in God and I'm certain he loves me just the way I am. He "gets" me. Smiley_emoticons_smile

I believe in that type of karma.

My father died when he was 57 from cancer. He was an amazing man. Do I believe that it had anything to do with karma or reaping what you sow? Sort of because he is in heaven knowing only joy and peace. It's those of us left on earth that suffer and miss him. He was rewarded.

With what my brother is going through - has that tested my faith. You bet your ass it has. It has raised a lot of questions for me but it hasn't changed my beliefs. I don't believe God hands out punishments on earth to bad people. I do believe he blesses those that deserve it. It may not always come in the way that person wants or in their time frame but it happens.

It's a tough question and/or questions why things happen the way they do and if there is a God or karma. I can't say I have the answers but I know what I know in my heart and that is whay I have to live by.

i believe when He judges us and He looks at the likes of me, He'll just see that i'm a believer covered by His grace...nothing i did because how could you ever be good enough for perfection?

it's His grace and mercy...not anything I've done...otherwise i'm screwed Smiley_emoticons_smile

Agreed. And contrary to what the Catholic church believes, you are not rewarded with God's grace by the amount of good works you do. You can do good works and not have a pure heart in doing so. God knows what's in your heart and the reasons you do what you do.

My cousin is a pastor and never rags on me about going to church. His motger asked him once why he doesn't say something to me about it. He said "God knows she's a good person. She doesn't need to be forced to come to church to prove it to him. "
Just shut up. Just shut the fuck up right now.

So if you're covered by grace you can pretty much do whatever the fuck you want.

How convenient.

The grace of God is not a license to be a dickhead. But doing community service or donating money or whatever with the intent that it will get you something is not what He wants either. You do it out of the goodness of your heart to borrow an old phrase. You do it because you want to, not because you have to.

It IS a license to be a dickhead.

It is the carrot (heaven) or stick (hell) syndrome.
Just as long as you ask your blessed Savior ( capitalized out of respect and just in case I am wrong and he really does exist) for forgiveness it shall be granted unto you. No community service required.

You can ask for forgivness but it you are not truely repentent, it won't be heard. It's not the words coming out of your mouth but what is in your heart that matters.

Now that is all I have to say about that.

You have your beliefs and I have mine. While I don't agree with you on this topic, I respect your right to have your own opinion. And I appreciate that you and OBK don't seem to be berating me for mine. Unlike some other people on this forum. We can agree to disagree and go have drinks. hah
