I can only speak of my humble experience. Years ago when I was at a low time in my life, I remember the exact time i was driving around and asked Him if He were really real, to come into my life - ' cause this just wasn't working.... No lightening bolts. For me it was a remarkable process...I began slowly to notice ...with some things ..days, other things - weeks or years - but I would realize I had more empathy, conscience became keener, compassion, kindness towards others, etc. even though I still fuck up immensely...there is not a shame associated with it when i do - so much as spiritually being gently ...leading me back ...

The thing that blows me away the most about Him - is His mercy. Years after the time described above, there was a horrific time where I deliberately turned my back not only on Him, but my husband and even possibly my children...i went in a direction that I got caught up in at a vulnerable time in my life... and in the midst of my rebellion, He was still there ...gently leading me back from self destruction. (although He has hit me with a few 2x 4's a few times)

I can't stand self righteous Christians but I hope no one would ever not have a relationship with Him because of ever looking at the flawed lives of those that love Him....'cause He still has a whole lot of work to do with me...

To answer your question...I just don't have the desire to hurt anyone or myself like I used to...although again I'm a work in progress. Proof? No, just I know that I know...we're just cool.

I've found this is the best attitude to have. None of us will ever know the answers, we are incapable of knowing, it doesn't stop us from trying. I think this is what the Genesis message really was in the Adam and Eve story, that we strive to be like God but can never be.

Proof, one does not need to conclude if God exists. For me I became sold when I looked at the probabilities. The probability of our universe just being ABLE to support life. If you had a Big Bang (a theory I accept) every day for a billion years you still would not produce a universe that could produce life. Now add in the probability of one that ACTUALLY produced life and the probability gets exponentially tougher.

Being that our Universe is only 15 billion years old then one must ask, was the universe just a REALLY REALLY REALLY big lottery hit or was the game rigged (by intervention by a being that is infinite and eternal). Suddenly the probabilities change. Math is the only science that has proven to be set in stone and that is because logical reasoning are a MUST with math, there is no wiggle room whereas the rest of science and physics has and does change as we learn new things.

That was the thing that set me on the path toward believing that God does exist. Once I reached that conclusion other things began to make more sense.
