Good call.

You have your beliefs and I have mine. While I don't agree with you on this topic, I respect your right to have your own opinion. And I appreciate that you and OBK don't seem to be berating me for mine. Unlike some other people on this forum. We can agree to disagree and go have drinks. hah

I never agree to disagree. I won't berate you for you beliefs, but I will smash them with logic if you give me the opportunity. But only because I like you.

Please substitute "can" for, 'have to' for accuracy's sakes.

Aww, isn't that sweet? You like me!

Truth - my youngest son does not believe. We have some spirited discussions. hah However, I don't demand he believes as I do. His father tells him he has to believe in God because he said so. Ya know what? That didnt' work.

I've alway thought the best way to raise good kids is to be a bad example.

She has given you the opportunity. I have given you the opportunity.

All you've chosen to do is hurl insults and make smarmy comments.

So please. Let me now invite you. Dazzle us with your logic. Please tell us how the world is and let us see your logic.

What is a good example? Each society has a base religion that follows an ethical and moral path. So, a good example is totally determined upon the society in which one grows up. THUS one could be a good example in one part of the world and a bad in the other. So.... how SHOULD one raise their children, what ethical system is the best? Kantianism? Utilitarianism? Objectivism? All are flawed. But let your logic dictate the correct one to us.

You claim to have logic, yet you cannot answer a question. I at least gave you the respect of an answer even though you were unhappy with it because I didn't fit into one of the nice little boxes you try to put people in.

Back to the question at hand.

Karma is a totally rational belief. However if one is Christian one cannot accept it because it presupposes reincarnation.

Reincarnation/Karma cannot exist in Christianity because Christians MUST believe that 1) God is judge 2) I have only one soul. Now because Christians believe that Jesus when he returns will resurrect the righteous that means I can only be resurrected once. Ressurrection and reincarnation are not one in the same.

Likewise Karma believes in a cyclical universe. Thus far science has shown our universe to not be cyclical and instead expanding from one point in time. That is why I personally do not believe in karma or a religion that presupposes a cyclical universe.

I bet Riotgear was fun to have in math class where logic is key.

Teacher: What is 2 +3?
Riotgear: You hump my leg! No wait..... Are you a Christian.

That's some fine logical thinking there!

Karma is just another irrational belief to me. It's wishful thinking that good people are rewarded in this life or another life and the bad are punished. The world isn't fair and no rational reason that it should be, so I just accept it instead of believing in what seems like nonsense to give myself a false sense of comfort.

Well it's rational in the fact that the job of religion is to ask Why? and find an acceptable solution in what is known. Now the solution is acceptable. However it's taken me to look at quantum physics and what's known about the universe in order to reject it personally. That was not easy to do. Now quantum physics and what we know about the universe has and still does change, so I'm willing to still accept belief in it as rational even though I don't accept it.

Science asks the question and then seeks the answer.
Religion provides the answer and then seeks the question.
