Well I guess that would depend on her assets and income. If she's a single mom on unemployment she might even qualify for Medicaid. The worst it could do is go on her credit, which I don't know, that might be better than sitting around with a bum gallbladder.

So waiting on/for an emergency situation to arise, sort of takes the decision out of one's hands. Operation is now needed, so it's done.

Do any of you West Coast Mockers have a Jacaranda tree?
I tracked that tree down after seeing it in some of the pix from the Santa Monica shootings. That is an awesome tree & I'd love to have one.
There is a town in NSW, called Grafton. They hail it as the jacaranda capital of the world. In bloom the whole place tunrs purple.
They're bloody messy bastards of trees though. We had one in our yard at one of our old places and it was a bitch to clean up after in Autumn. Give a liquid amber any day; at lest those leaves are easy to rake.

I did read that in my research. It's so pretty I might be willing to overlook that but it's not hardy for my area. I have a few tropicals that I overwinter but I think a tree might be too much to attempt.

Normal trees you have to rake the leaves, with the jacaranda it's the bloody flowers. Thousands and thousands of them, and they're resinous and sticky. They stick to the grass, to each other, they stick tour boots, your rake, every bloody thing.
Those are pretty and I think I've seen them but I don't have any. How long do they flower? My plum and cherry trees only bloom for 2-3 weeks in the spring. They're still pretty but that bloom period is damn short. The plums are just about ripe now. My cherry tree doesn't produce fruit.
They flower for a month or so, usually in late September to early November, over here.

I have second thoughts about that beautiful tree after reading that. I don't think it would be worth it after all.
