I firmly believe that you can't help who you fall in love with and money doesn't enter into the equation, at least it doesn't for me but then I like being financially independent. It would put a hurtin' on me to have to ask a man for money.

I don't know about all that. I married for money.

I have the occasional moment.

I don't know what it's like to "trade" people; never done it. There's quite a bit of time for me between relationships; I don't mind being alone and am not a baggage-carrier.

Do you really think that most women would trade a man for another with more money, Jim? I don't think that's true any more than I think most men would trade a woman in for a younger model if they had the opportunity. Some, yes. Most, no. At least, I haven't seen either happening as a trend in my world. Add: referring to serious relationships here

It was a slick pair of tires though and the bitch was chewing gum all day and popping it in my ear...

I don't think I understand correctly but if I do I think you have a fucked up view regarding love.

My view of love is irrelevant. Obviously I currently have a skewed view of it. In general however, I love love. Who doesn't? It's one of the most powerful feelings in the world.

I was just playing off of Donovan's experience, as the mobility of people supposedly in love is fairly common - divorce rates around 50% as evidence. The grass is always greener and all... or so people think I guess.

Disclaimer: I've not been left by anyone who moved on to someone else more wealthy.

Money doesn't even for into the equation unless there is not enough it and then it becomes very important. Security is what is important to me. And feeling loved valued and appreciated...

Unless of course they choose to be, this is not a true statement.

And you forgot "gold digging" as a precedent adjective Smiley_emoticons_smile

I believe this as well. I also believe in the chemical reaction part of love, as it does actually occur.

I don't think it happens commonly. It does happen though... but I think it happens more with people who weren't truly in love in the first place. Of course that unravels this entire line of the thread...

Mine didn't trade up. We worked as a team to get her out of living in somebody's basement and uninsured service employee to a Masters degree tenured teacher and suburban homeowner mom. But once she got to the dance she forgot who brought her and decided she could probably do better. Such is life. I tried to tell her one of us was gonna be tough to replace. People who believe in concepts like "soulmates" forget it's mostly just compatible pheromones and with 6 billion people on the planet they aren't nearly as unique as they'd like to think.

I know women who don't like snakes.

They're called lesbians.
